Raise Your Glasses! Downtown Brew Festival Returns To Downtown Las Vegas
Motley Brews’ backyard beer bash, Downtown Brew Festival (DBF), will return to the Clark County Amphitheater for its seventh year from 5-9 p.m., with early entry and VIP entry at 4 p.m., on Saturday, Oct. 20. Touted as one of the largest craft beer festivals in Las Vegas, second only to Motley Brew’s Great Vegas Festival of Beer, DBF will unite craft beer enthusiasts with more than 250 beers from 70 breweries, some of the city’s finest chefs and live music.
“Downtown Brew Festival has become a favorite annual event among Las Vegas locals,” said Brian Chapin, founder of Motley Brews. “The combination of the lights, music and amazing craft beer has struck a chord among loyal and new attendees, which is why the festival continues to grow in experience and attendance every year.”
Downtown Brew Festival has sold out for the past five years and combines the vibe of a backyard party with a craft beer festival, complete with live music and a nighttime setting under strings of lights and a canopy of stars. Another sell-out crowd of more than 4,200 guests is anticipated for the evening event, which will also showcase incredible culinary offerings at ‘Festaurant Row.’
Tickets to Downtown Brew Festival start at $35 plus fees for general admission, which include access to the event from 5 to 9 p.m. along with a tasting glass, unlimited beer samples and more. Early admission tickets are also available, with entry at 4 p.m. and access to exclusive beers, priced at $45 plus fees. VIP tickets are available for $80 plus a service fee, and include early entry at 4 p.m., access to the VIP Pavilion Lounge, which includes limited-release and unique beers, a decadent spread of beer-inspired cuisine prepared by local chefs and more. NASCAR & Hockey Trade Places In Vegas To Celebrate New Race Series
Cars Driven Today |
Sports! Today in Las Vegas NASCAR and Hockey came together to celebrate the 2nd big race being brought to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway the LVMS’ South Point 400 weekend begins with the Star Nursery 100 NASCAR K&N Series West race at the Dirt Track on Thursday, Sept. 13, before moving to the superspeedway for three consecutive days. The World of Westgate 200 Camping World Truck Series race is set for Friday, with the DC Solar 300 NASCAR Xfinity Series event following on Saturday and the South Point 400 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series playoff kickoff capping the weekend’s racing on Sunday. So start your engines and head on down to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway!
Deryk , Kurt & Shane Hnidy |
It was a swap with NASCAR champion and Blog Fave Kurt Busch starting out on the ice with Vegas Golden Knights defenseman Deryk Engelland. While Kurt was a little unsteady, by the end of the session he was hitting the pucks like a pro! Deryk was gliding around on the ice and showing the NASCAR driver how to run some basic formations and exercises. They traded tips on how the sports are similar but different. With NASCAR it is one driver with a team and with Hockey it is a full team on the ice. Each sport depends upon their team and teammates.
Then it was time to get on the party bus and continue onto the track! As Kurt Busch said jokingly “Time to go to my house!” Waiting on the track were four race cars. Yes Ford cars, because that is what Kurt drives. I asked him, “How do I make my Ford Focus roar like his car” and got a smile.
Golden Knight Deryk Engelland said about the driving experience “It had my adrenaline rushing and getting that close to the wall while in the passenger seat was quite an awesome experience.” Engelland gained a new respect for the stamina NASCAR drivers must have to compete in extreme conditions at the highest level. “I only did a handful of laps, and my arms are killing me,” Engelland said. “So, to have to do it for an entire race with 40 other cars out there is a whole other ballgame.”
I had a chance to ask Kurt a few questions and since I love horseback riding I asked him if he and his wife ride together. His wife Ashley is a championship Polo player and recently played with Prince Harry in a charity match in the Sentebale ISPS Handa Polo Cup at the Royal County of Berkshire Polo Club with the Sentebale St. Regis team. Turns out he does enjoy horseback riding “Yes I do enjoy spending time on horseback and riding with Ashley.” A different kind of horsepower! He also did mention that while he enjoyed his time on the ice today, “Man I need more than six times on skates to get this right.” Oh and yes Kurt does drive a Ford with his everyday ride being his 2017 Expedition.
Deryk, Kurt & LVM's Chris Powell |
After the turns around the track the athletes also participated in a jersey swap, with Busch getting a No. 41 Vegas Golden Knights jersey from the team and Engelland taking home LVMS, Monster and Stewart-Haas Racing shirts to commemorate the experience. LVMS track President Chris Powell also received a HAAS Ford shirt to commemorate the day.
Now Las Vegas has two NASCAR events a year to look forward to. Nothing gets my blood racing and blood pumping like the roar of those NASCAR powerful cars. So super excited about having the LVMS’ South Point 400 weekend in Vegas, SPECTACULAR!
Various ticket packages, fun extras and special-access passes for LVMS’s second NASCAR weekend of the year are available at www.lvms.com or by calling 1-800-644-4444.

Vegas Wedding Terrace Gazebo |
Owner Cliff Everts, Mayor Goodman, Vegas Weddings Executive |
Vegas Weddings celebrated a decade downtown with an official proclamation presentation by Mayor Carolyn Goodman. The premier wedding chapel company, which has overseen more than 80,000 weddings to date, first opened its doors on Aug. 8, 2008 and celebrated their 10-year anniversary alongside couples exchanging vows on today's popular wedding date of 8/8/18 with exclusive experiences, giveaways, promotions and more. Over 30 ceremonies were performed today, including the ever popular drive-thru wedding in the fast lane.
"I'm excited to be back down here again after opening the doors 10 years ago," said Goodman. "Vegas Weddings is a great addition to downtown, and I wish them many more years of success!"
Vegas Weddings specializes in creating highly-customizable experiences, from intimate ceremony-only celebrations to over-the-top destination wedding receptions and "only in Las Vegas" themed nuptials. The company offers eight unique wedding venues and countless packages, including everything from tux and gown rentals, floral, photography, receptions and more for an unforgettable wedding experience at any price point.
"Today is a special date for our couples tying the knot, but also for all of us here at Vegas Weddings," said Executive Director Melody Williams. "We're honored to celebrate 10 years within the Las Vegas community and continue to create memorable and extraordinary experiences for all that choose to travel, wed or renew here."
In honor of the company's anniversary, couples who opted to wed throughout the month of August received a complimentary Diamond Anniversary Bouquet and every couple who spends $299 or more were gifted with commemorative poker chips to mark their big day in true Las Vegas fashion. Continuing the celebration, two lucky couples will win a free Inspire Package (a $699 value) by posting their image to Vegas Wedding's Facebook page from Aug. 1-18. All submissions will be compiled into an album where friends and families can cast their votes by liking the photos. The top two photos with the most likes will win.
