Opportunity Village's Vocal Group To Join Million Dollar Quartet Onstage

In celebration of the smash-hit musical MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET’s 1,000th performance on the Las Vegas Strip this August, local non-profit Opportunity Village’s Village Blend vocal group will join the cast onstage for a special encore performance on Tuesday, Aug. 4 at 7 p.m. in the Harrah’s Las Vegas Showroom. Members of Village Blend will take the stage for a one-night-only performance of Carl Perkins’ legendary tune “Blue Suede Shoes” alongside the talented cast during the finale. “No Mas Pantalones Brunch” Debuts At Mercadito Restauraunt

Brunch goes bottomless at Mercadito with the addition of the “No Mas Pantalones Brunch” every Saturday and Sunday 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.  Full disclosure – only the mimosas are bottomless, guests still need to wear pants.  The special includes one brunch item and unlimited Mercadito mimosas including regular, strawberry, pineapple, guava or mango for $25 per guest.  Additional brunch items and cocktails are available for purchase.

"In Living Color" Stars Bring Show To Treasure Island

Stars of the hit 90’s sketch comedy show In Living Color, David Alan Grier and Tommy Davidson, will split the stage at Treasure Island, June 24 at 9 p.m.

Grier, one of Comedy Central’s “100 Greatest Stand-Ups of All Time,” began his career on Broadway as Jackie Robinson in “The First,” for which he was nominated for a Tony Award. He then joined the cast of “Dreamgirls” before starring opposite Denzel Washington in “A Soldier’s Play” and the film adaption “A Soldier’s Story.”

Since then, he has frequented screens large and small with both comedic and dramatic work, including roles in “A Different World,” “Jumanji,” “The Woodsman,” “Crank Yankers,” “DAG,” “Life with Bonnie,” “Boomerang,” “Bones” and, of course, “In Living Color.” Grier has also kept busy on Broadway, earning his third Tony nomination in 2012 for his standout role as “Sporting Life” in “Porgy and Bess.” He recently starred opposite Kerry Washington and Craig Robinson in “Peeples,” and in the upcoming NBC comedy series “The Charmichael Show.”

As a cutting-edge, young standup comic, Davidson earned an ardent following in Washington, D.C. before hitting the road as the opening act for Patti LaBelle, Kenny G and Luther Vandross. Next, he moved to Hollywood and began headlining at a number of comedy clubs, which lead to a starring roll in “Partners in Crime” and his audition for “In Living Color.”

Davidson also had recurring roles on “The Bernie Mac Show,” “Martin” and “Malcom and Eddie” and provided the voice of “Oscar Proud” in the Disney animated series “The Proud Family,” hosted FOX’s “The NFL Show” and recorded three Showtime specials: “On Strength of New York,” “Illin’ in Philly” and “Takin’ it to DC.” His film work includes Spike Lee’s “Bamboozled,” “Juwanna Mann,” “Booty Call” and cult classic “Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls.”

New "Grand Cu Witbier" Coming To Sin City Brewing Company

Sin City Brewing Co. has tapped the newest beer on the Las Vegas Strip, the Sin City Grand Cru. As part of the brewery’s series of higher alcohol seasonals, the Grand Cru is a strong Witbier to complement the hot summer months. The inspiration for Sin City’s first Belgian-style beer comes from Master Brewer Richard Johnson’s backpacking days through Europe, searching out all the unique beers he could taste and discovering the incredibly complex Belgian brewing landscape.

“Summer is the perfect time to cool down with a refreshing wheat beer,” said Johnson. “The Grand Cru’s balanced flavor profile isn’t too hoppy, has a caramel sweetness and is topped off with notes of orange zest and coriander.”

The term “Grand Cru” originally has its roots in wine, meaning a vineyard known for producing exemplary wines. In brewing, a Grand Cru designates a premium beer produced in a limited volume, usually a more elaborate version of a previous recipe. Sin City’s rendition has higher alcohol content than a standard Witbier, weighing in at 8 percent ABV and a modest hop profile of 25 IBU. The Grand Cru is now available throughout August at Sin City’s location on Las Vegas Boulevard at Harmon Corner and is arriving next week at the Grand Canal Shoppes at The Venetian.

Christmas In July Program To Benefit WestCare Nevada! How Can You Help?

WestCare Nevada today announced it has teamed up with community partners Crazy Pita and Nevada Title Company for a ‘Christmas in July Drive,’ which will benefit the women and children at the nonprofit’s Women and Children’s Campus. The drive will begin on July 1 and end on July 31.
Community members are asked to donate new and unwrapped baby items, including toys, blankets and clothing, as well as women’s clothing and new toiletries. Items can be dropped off at donation boxes located inside any three of the valley’s Crazy Pita restaurants or at a Nevada Title Company office branch location:

Women and children housed at the WestCare campus will benefit from the drive, which is taking place prior to a renovation planned for the facility’s nursery on Aug. 22.

The Women and Children’s Campus  is a 33,453 square-foot facility that provides clients and their children emergency shelter, food, employment assistance, case management, education, and core supportive and wraparound services.

“We are renovating our facility little by little, and given that our next project is the nursery, it made sense to reach out to the community for support in this way,” WestCare Director of Development Darlene Terrill said. “Our clients are so grateful for all of the community support. It means the world to them and to us.”
