It's HERE! Ski Season Sale NOW Going On! Ski The Rabbit Peak!

Opening Saturday December 13th, 9am

The official opening date for the 2014-15 Winter season is this Saturday with Rabbit Peak.
They are finally getting our Winter season started!  While they have been anxiously awaiting cooler temperatures and snowfall, they can finally open the doors to the lodge and welcome their mountain families to the resort.  On Saturday they will open up the beginner terrain and the Rabbit Peak Quad.

This partial opening will give you a chance to come up and see the new improvements, maybe get your season pass or season locker, and stretch those legs on Rabbit Peak.  With only Rabbit Peak open they will be offering $20 lift passes, and with continued snowmaking and help from the weather they hope to have additional terrain open within the week.

Want to go higher?  They need a little more snow to open up more terrain, but they will open up the new Bluebird chair for scenic chair rides.  $10 for adults and $5 for children $12 and under.  Season pass holders can enjoy a scenic chair ride at no cost.   No stopping at the top, but that will come later.

Additionally, all of the Ride Local Card members will start their first complimentary period from Dec 13th through Dec 21st.  That's two extra days on them.  For those that have not locked in their $39 lift passes you can still purchase your Ride Local Card now.  The deadline to purchase is Dec 14th!

New Interesting Items Added To The Exhibits At The Mob Museum!

Three new exhibit items are now on view at The Mob Museum, The National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement.  The Museum actively seeks artifacts to broaden and deepen its collection, pursuing artifacts that help tell the story of the historic battle between organized crime and law enforcement, as well as the reflections of that battle in popular culture.

The new exhibit items include:
The Nucky Thompson “Death Suit”: Steve Buscemi, who played bootlegging gangster Enoch “Nucky” Thompson in HBO’s Boardwalk Empire, wore this three-piece suit in the series finale, in which his character was killed on the Atlantic City boardwalk. The suit features a bullet hole where the character was shot.

Nucky Johnson Culinary Trophy: Enoch “Nucky” Johnson, Atlantic City organized crime boss during the Prohibition era, sponsored this silver cup, which was awarded to Omer Bondoux in a culinary contest in 1925. Bondoux was the chef at the Breakers Hotel in Atlantic City. The Nucky Thompson character in Boardwalk Empire was inspired by the real-life Nucky Johnson.

Paulie Walnuts Track Suit: Tony Sirico, who played Paulie “Walnuts” Gualtieri in HBO’s The Sopranos, wore the track suit during the opening scene of Season 6, Episode 4. Paulie is shown walking out of a SCUBA shop toward his car. In this episode, he learns his Aunt Dottie, a nun, is actually his mother.

“‘The Sopranos’ and ‘Boardwalk Empire’ are among the great celluloid achievements in dramatizing the endlessly fascinating narrative of the Mob-law enforcement dynamic,” explains Geoff Schumacher, director of content, The Mob Museum.

The Latest Holiday Hairstyles & Make-Up Trends From Micheal Boychuck

Holiday Hair
Holiday Make-Up

With party season upon us, hair guru and owner of COLOR Salon at Caesars Palace Michael Boychuck predicts that caramel and honey blonde shades, styled up-dos and a pop of red lip stick will grab everyone’s attention this holiday season.

Boychuck, who recently opened his newest salon at Life Time Athletic Green Valley, believes deep honey blonde shades with caramel highlights and ombré coloring will be popular hair colors for women to don during the festive season. These looks will create a warmer look for the colder months ahead.

“Holiday hair trends for 2014 are simple, yet sexy,” Boychuck said. “Both holiday hair and makeup should be elegant, but still casual enough to easily transform from day to night.”

Boychuck says that beautifully styled buns are a classy look for any holiday party. This hairstyle allows women to spice up their holiday look, in addition to vibrant makeup anticipated for this season. Women can add a pop of color with a bright red lip and add neutral shades of eye makeup with long plump lashes to complete the look. For those who want a more casual look, a low side ponytail with accent braids is a classic style that is fun and flirty.

Shiny, neutral and glittery colors are the predicted nail colors for the holiday season this year. The Las Vegas-based colorist to the stars predicts that women will be sporting light pink, white and gray palettes, such as bubblegum pink, stark white and Heather gray.

It's Almost Grinch Time! Sunday 12/14 At Hyde Bellagio

‘Tis the season to party the holiday away! Hyde Bellagio® transforms into Vegas-Ville, Vegas’ playful take on Whoville, for The Grinch Who Stole XIV Vegas Sessions celebration Sunday, Dec. 14 at 6 p.m.

Revelers, both naughty and nice, will be transported to the Grinch’s lair for an unforgettable holiday bash to celebrate, or not celebrate, the most wonderful time of the year. With halls decked in tinsel and mistletoe, sexy Santas and mischievous elves will deliver cocktails throughout the night as DJ Julian Ingrosso spins beats until the early hours of the morning. Clubgoers are encouraged to come dressed in their favorite festive attire.

One Sunday each month the Sunset Strip meets the Vegas Strip as Hyde Bellagio® reincarnates the notorious day party, which began as XIV Summer Sessions in Los Angeles, in Vegas-sized proportions. XIV’s themes vary, but neon is ubiquitous, signature champagne showers flow freely and crazy costumes are always encouraged. Returning in full force after its annual summer hiatus with an all-new lineup of imaginative themes and interactive elements, there’s no telling what surprises XIV Vegas Sessions has in store for the 2015 season.

A Very Special Show - John Prine Played The Pearl In Vegas!

Saturday night, the incredible John Prine took the stage of The Pearl at Palms Casino Resort for a live performance which, by far, was one of the best live performances Las Vegas has seen in 2014. The GRAMMY-award winning songwriter hadn’t played the city since 1999 and this special performance closed out his 2014 tour and featured Prine playing songs from all decades of his catalog.

Some four decades since his remarkable debut, John Prine has stayed at the top of his game, both as a performer and songwriter. In recent years, he was honored at the Library of Congress by US Poet Laureate Ted Kooser, elevating Prine from the annals of songwriters into the realm of bona fide American treasures.

Long considered a “songwriter’s songwriter,” Prine is a rare talent who writes the songs other songwriters would sell their souls for. Evidence of this is the long list of songwriters who have recorded gems from his extensive catalog, including Johnny Cash, Bonnie Raitt, the Everly Brothers, John Denver, Kris Kristofferson, Carly Simon, Ben Harper, Joan Baez and many others.
