See Miley Cyrus Everyday! Now At Madame Tussauds' Las Vegas

On Monday, March 9, Madame Tussauds Las Vegas premiered its wildest wax figure yet: Miley Cyrus on a wrecking ball, suspended from a 130-foot-high, 90-ton crane in front of The Venetian® Las Vegas. The attraction’s newest figure made its world debut on the Doge’s Palace canal bridge, in front of the hotel property.

Miley Cyrus' figure was a unique creation for Madame Tussauds' studio team as this project included not only her figure, but also the wrecking ball itself. Together, the figure and the ball weigh more than 200 pounds. Along with a 30 foot long chain, the top of Miley's head to the bottom of the wrecking ball will stand at more than 10 feet. The figure and the ball took more than six months to create with a team of 20 dedicated artists. Based on more than 300 precise body measurements, the figure was first sculpted in clay by hand then covered in a plaster cast. Once the clay was removed from the cast, the wax was poured in and allowed to cool. Finally, the figure was fitted with acrylic eyes and teeth; hairs on the head were inserted individually by hand and countless layers of paints and tints were applied to build up skin tones – all to achieve an astonishingly lifelike figure.
Miley's figure will be permanently installed into the attraction's Music Room.

Madame Tussauds London will be revealing its own unique wax likeness of Miley Cyrus the week following the Las Vegas launch. For additional information, visit  madametussauds.com/London or @MadameTussauds on Twitter.

To purchase tickets to be the first to see Miley and Madame Tussauds' collection of more than 100 figures include the brand new Hangover Experience, go to www.MadameTussauds.com/LasVegas.

Not All Sushi Is Created Equal! Try Sushi Roku & Taste The Difference

Sushi Roku Aji Crudo
Not all Sushi is created equal! Here in Las Vegas there are many dining options and when it comes to Sushi restaurants there are currently over 300 listings on Yelp. Rest assured though that you do not need to go traipsing all over the valley to find delicacies such as Aji Crudo (Jack Mackarel, Ginger relish, Aji Amarillo Sauce) Tuna Sashimi Carpacio (Katana Style) or Yellowtail with Diced Chilies (with olive oil and Garlic Ponzu) all you need to do is drive down Las Vegas Blvd. turn into Caesar’s Palace and make your way to Sushi Roku.

Yellowtail With  Diced Chilies
Sushi Roku
This restaurant offers spectacular views of the LV Strip and has a private dining room and comfy leather banquettes. If you prefer a table there are plenty of hardtops available.  Plus they now have a Gluten Free menu. Sushi Roku also has a full service bar serving everything from Sake to Champagne.

Now back to the food and why you should visit! First and foremost Sushi Roku believes in maintaining the balance of our oceans endangered fish. They pay more but all of the fish on the menu is obtained from eco-friendly sustainable sources.  This makes me very happy and I willingly support a restaurant that has their eye on the future and makes responsible choices.  PLUS you are going to be “in the know” on some of the secret dishes that you can order.

Scottish Salmon Caesar Salad
Blue Crab Tartare

The first item that you must order is the Blue Crab Tartare! So amazingly good. It comes served in bowl and you squeeze lemon and mix together the tartare along with the Uni and Caviar and taste this fabulousness! A “MUST” and priced at $39 this dish will be enough for 3-4 to share.  Everyone, well almost everyone enjoys a Caesar salad.  Chef Haru and GM Johnny Seo have put together some new amazing items and the Scottish Salmon “Caesar” is a standout dish. Fresh crisp romaine lettuce with shaved parmesan croutons and with Soy Wasabi dressing this salad hits the sweet spot.  The robust and succulent taste of the salmon blends lovely with the Soy Wasbi dressing; making this a wonderful edition to the menu. Want something to munch on? The Truffle/Spicy Edamame is divine. Lightly flavored with truffle oil and dusted with Okinawa sea salt you will want more and more.  If you enjoy Tempura the Popcorn Shrimp Tempura is bursting with that fresh from the ocean shrimp flavor, along with the spicy creamy sauce another wonderful addition to any meal. Priced at $18 you can also share with one or two people.

Spicy Pork Belly "Kakuni" Fried Rice
What would a meal with Sushi be without fried rice? Sushi Roku takes the concept a step further and has the Spicy Pork Belly “Kakuni” Fried Rice on the menu along with a fried egg, Kakuni means "square simmered" and this is a succulent melt in your mouth piece of pork.

Baked Crab Handroll
The Baked Crab Handroll has sweet pulled crabmeat the Katana Roll has Spicy Tuna and Shrimp Tempura topped with Tune and Yellowtail. If you order one of these or both you will be equally delighted with the taste and texture.

Those are some of my favorite dishes on the menu but these items are outstanding also!

Lobster Tempura
King Crab Lettuce Wrap
Now for your secret insider dishes!   Ask for the "Hanabi" a crispy rice dish with the various toppings, or the Truffle Edamame, and lastly the Tuna Sashimi Carpaccio and your waiter will know that you are a Sushi Roku insider!

Deserts
What would a full dinner be without desert? On the menu are fresh decadent donut holes, a fresh fruit tart and cake. For a wonderful dining experience be sure and stop by Sushi Roku, you will enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!

More Than $170,000 Raised For St. Baldrick's Foundation!

Cast From FANTASY

Olivia Newton -John & Chippendles

New York-New York Hotel & Casino raised more than $170,000 for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation this past Saturday, March 7, during the 6th annual head-shaving event. The Las Vegas community and tourists alike came out to show their support and cheer on shavees at the Brooklyn Bridge during the fun-filled day. All of the proceeds will benefit the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, and go toward childhood cancer research.

Highlights from this year’s event include:

·         Olivia Newton-John, headliner at Flamingo, shaved Greg Chase’s head, who is the director of guests experience at New York-New York.

Carrot Top stopped by the event to mingle and take photos with fans. He also shared a story with the crowd about recently reading a book to school children called “Super Hair-o and the Barber of Doom,” which is about a boy who thinks he will lose his ‘super powers’ when all of his hair is cut off. “At the end of the book,” said Carrot Top, “the boy realizes he doesn’t need his hair to be super, and that’s exactly the same for kids who lose their hair to cancer.”

·         Las Vegas media personality John Katsilometes had his head shaved by Elann Saula, a four-year-old boy who suffers from serious immune system disorders and receives treatment at a St. Baldrick’s-funded center. This is the third consecutive year that Katsilometes shaved his head at New York-New York’s St. Baldrick’s event.

·         John W. Bonner Elementary School’s Principal Paul Catania along with 26 Bonner Boys and one Bonner Girl took turns in the barber chairs and braved a shave. The Bonner Boys first shaved their heads in 2012 and have continued the tradition to help raise awareness for childhood cancer.

Thunder Down Under Shaves Attendees
Throughout the day, celebrities and notable personalities came out to show their support including:

·         Miss Nevada USA and Miss Nevada Teen USA
·         FANTASY cast members
·         Thunder From Down Under cast members
·         JERSEY BOYS cast members
·         Absinthe cast members
·         Chippendales cast members
·         Rock of Ages cast members
·         Million Dollar Quartet cast members
·         Tournament of Kings cast members
·         Alex de la Cruz (Castro) of Fresh Cuts Barbershop
·         Las Vegas media personality Robin Leach
·         Criss Angel Believe by Cirque du Soleil cast members
·         TV personality Megan Telles
·         KLUC personality JB King

Each year, the St. Baldrick’s Day event helps raise awareness in the fight against childhood cancer. The event is vital to raise needed funds, enabling the St. Baldrick’s Foundation to fund the best research projects focused on finding better treatments and cures for all childhood cancers.
