The Gala’s masters of ceremonies are FOX 5 KVVU-TV MORE co-hosts Rachel Smith and Sean McAllister.  The evening will feature an elegant cocktail party and silent auction including a glamorous fashion and shoe presentation by Saks Fifth Avenue, followed by an exquisite dinner and live auction hosted by Auctioneer Chet Buchanan on the Reynolds Hall stage.  The live auction will feature many amazing experience packages from exotic overseas travel to tickets to prestigious national competitions. This will be the first time the Las Vegas Philharmonic presents its Diamonds Are Forever Gala at The Smith Center.  “As resident company of The Smith Center, we felt it was only natural to host this year’s Gala in the hall we call home,” says Las Vegas Philharmonic President and CEO, Jeri Crawford.  “Also, we are offering guests the unique opportunity to dine on the Reynolds Hall stage so they can experience this beautiful hall from the musicians’ perspectives.”

Proceeds from the evening will benefit the Las Vegas Philharmonic's various educational initiatives including its annual Youth Concert Series and Young Artists’ Concerto Competition.  To date, the Las Vegas Philharmonic’s Youth Concert Series has reached more than 180,000 fourth- and fifth-grade students in the Las Vegas Valley.   Close to 80% of the students in attendance are from at-risk schools.  The Youth Concert Series offers a significant cultural experience for those students. These concerts are free to the students.  The Philharmonic relies on funding from donors and corporate sponsors to sustain this annual program.

Salt Room LV brings a new salt wellness therapy option to the Las Vegas Valley at 1958 Village Center Cir, Ste. 7 in Summerlin.

The therapy rooms at Salt Room LV are designed to provide guests with a drug-free, holistic experience, while recreating the microclimate of a salt cave. The spa-like environment in the room creates an area of zen, to depart from the stresses of everyday life, while enjoying the health benefits of salt.

Salt therapy, also commonly known as Halotherapy, includes relaxing in a “salt cave” for a 45-minute session. People are curious and interested in the benefits of salt therapy.”

At approximately 6:30 p.m., guests began to arrive and were greeted by Cirque du Soleil artists, as they made their way to the poolside cocktail party. Mukhtar & Francis
Later in the evening, Mauicio and Kyle took a moment to thank everyone for coming out to hear about an amazing organization that they’ve been a part of for the last two years. Mauricio introduced part of the ONE DROP board and creative team who spoke about the organization’s special projects around the world, along with the star-studded One Night for ONE DROP gala to be held on Friday, March 20, in Las Vegas. Guests continued to mingle throughout the evening, and take-in the amazing artwork and breathtaking view from Laliberte’s home.

What is ONE DROP?
ONE DROP—a non-profit organization established in 2007 by Cirque du Soleil Founder Guy Laliberté—strives to ensure that water is accessible to all, today and forever.
Water is the most critical challenge facing the XXIst century. Although it is essential to life, nearly 800 million people lack access to water while 2.5 billion are deprived of access to adequate sanitation. By 2025, 5.3 billion people—two-thirds of the world’s population—could lack access to enough water to meet their basic daily requirements.

Water is everyone’s business. All of society’s actors need to be at the table to solve the world’s water access and management challenges. Investing in water projects is good, but if we want to stop throwing money at the problem, investing in sustainable access to water and sanitation projects that promote self-reliance is even better.

Using a one-of-a-kind sustainable intervention model, ONE DROP develops innovative access to water and sanitation projects which promote self-reliance in disadvantaged, rural and semi-rural regions of Central America, India West Africa. The programs launched from ONE DROP's inception until the end of 2015 will transform the lives of 1 million people.  For more information www.onedrop.org/en/default.aspx

The Mob Museum & The Plaza Team Up For John Gotti Exhibit

The Mob Museum, the National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement, has partnered with Plaza Hotel & Casino on a brand-new  exhibition, which will remain on view until June 30, 2015. Designed to place even more of the Museum’s robust artifact collection on public view, as well as introduce the Museum to a larger audience, the exhibit includes the John Gotti car and informational signage throughout the hotel-casino.

Part of the Museum collection since 2011, the John Gotti car is a 1972 Jaguar XKE Convertible. The car was a gift to Gotti from veteran Gambino Family mobster Greg DePalma, who gave the car to Gotti to curry favor with the “Teflon Don.”  The car can go from zero to 60 miles per hour in 7.4 seconds with a top speed of 134 miles per hour and has a V12 Engine. Its original price was approximately $7,500.

Informational displays feature photographs and text spotlighting prominent “Sin City Mobsters,” such as Benjamin “Bugsy” Siegel and Tony “The Ant” Spilotro, whose Las Vegas associations are inextricably linked with the city’s history. Another graphic display addresses some of the iconic Las Vegas resorts—such as The Flamingo and the El Cortez—which were famously associated with Mob ownership and activity before law enforcement and big corporate owners wrenched control away from organized crime.

Also of note, the Plaza Hotel & Casino is home to Oscar’s Steakhouse. Oscar Goodman, the restaurant’s namesake, was not only a prominent Mob defense attorney as well as City of Las Vegas mayor. The Mob Museum represents the realization of Goodman’s vision of the first world-class institution dedicated to revealing the impact of the Mob and its battle with law enforcement on society.

“This is the first time we’ve partnered with another Las Vegas entity on an exhibition of this scale,” said Ashley Misko, director of marketing and PR, The Mob Museum. “We’re grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with The Plaza and plan to pursue other traveling exhibition opportunities with other venues – both in Las Vegas and elsewhere – in the future.”

Michael Pergolini, vice president/general manager, Plaza Hotel & Casino, added, “The Plaza itself is part of the historical fabric of the original Las Vegas Strip in Downtown.  Already in partnership with Oscar Goodman, one of the city’s most notable Mob defense attorneys, embracing a partnership with The Mob Museum is a natural fit to showcase the artifacts from a period that shaped our city.  Being able to offer a glimpse of history within our casino and having guests visit the Museum for the whole story is just good business.”

For general information about the Museum, its exhibitions, special programming, event rentals and admission, please call (702) 229-2734 or visitwww.TheMobMuseum.org.
