Miss USA and Contestants continue to "Sweeten" Las Vegas!

Miss USA Rima Fakih

Miss USA Contestants

The 2011 Miss USA contestants, as well as the reigning Miss USA, Rima Fakih, stopped into Sugar Factory at Paris Las Vegas. The 51 contestants, plus the current crown-holder, browsed the retail store, ooh-ing and ahh-ing over the famous Couture Pops as well as the endless selection of candy the flagship location of the confectionary emporium has to offer.

After shopping, the contestants enjoyed a fabulous dinner prepared by Sugar Factory American Brasserie’s executive chefs, Michael Sellman and Bryan Ogden. The ladies dined on creamy artichoke dip, bruschetta, mixed greens with balsamic vinaigrette, Mediterranean vegetarian pasta, pan roasted salmon with a lemon-herb vinaigrette and grilled chicken breast with a sesame-soy glaze.

No dinner would be complete without a fabulous dessert – especially at a place like Sugar Factory. The ladies got a sweet surprise inside the  Chocolate Lounge as executive pastry chef, Michael Gillet, prepared a special treat of milk and dark chocolate fondues, paired with dipping treats such as freshly made brownies, pound cake, red velvet cake, gummy bears, strawberries and bananas to dip in the decadent chocolate.

Had CAKE and Loved it!! The Boulevard Pool at Cosmopolitan Rocks!

CAKE, one of the most principled, enduring, self-reliant, and best-selling artists in post-alternative rock, has been cited by Rolling Stone as creators of “a modern pop that is both mechanized and organic…highly developed and virtually unique.” Founded in 1992 and reaching worldwide attention on the strength of their platinum albums Fashion Nugget and Prolonging The Magic, as well as the gold-certified discs Comfort Eagle and Pressure Chief, CAKE is still an outsider – defiantly and proudly cutting their own path. Both their music and their way of operating in the ever-evolving marketplace are fueled by the same core principles of self-reliance, democracy, and integrity that inspired their formation.

They played to a packed house of partiers at the Boulevard Pool at the Cosmopolitan! The Flaming Lips perform at The Cosmopolitan this Friday, 6/17.

Annual Party Ladies Night Out Hits Record High!! It's all good!

Mayor Carolyn Goodman, Darlene & Cliff Miller

On June 1, 2011 the 9th Ladies Night Out took place at MJ Christensen Diamonds (http://www.mjchristensen.com/.) Everything came together including the nice breezy weather to help celebrate the survivors of Breast Cancer and to help those that are still fighting this disease. This event raises much needed funds for the Susan G. Komen For The Cure Foundation,  (http://www.komensouthernnevada.org/) and thanks to the great sponsors and the wonderful ladies of the Las Vegas Community a record $6300 was raised and donated!

On hand to Emcee the event was local radio personality Steph Mackenzie from 97.1 The Point. She and KLAS TV Channel 8’s Paula Francis, Chef Jimmy and SKG’s Stephanie Kirby called out the raffle winners of over $20,000 dollars of donated prizes. Among this was also a special auction that took place for a rare one of kind item; a fully restored by Ricks Restoration of Las Vegas (www.ricksrestorations.com) 1940’s Kotex (working) dispenser. This item provided quite the conversation piece and was won by local lady Claudia!

June 1st has been proclaimed as “MJ Christensen Diamonds Day” in Las Vegas. This honor was delivered to Mr. Cliff Miller by our new Mayor Carolyn Goodman!

Miss Teen California United States 2011 Gabrielle Boyadjian and Miss Colorado and Mrs. Nevada Amanda Kouretas were also in attendance to sign autographs and pose for pictures with fans! They helped the lucky raffle winners collect their prizes!

CupKates of Las Vegas (http://cupkateslv.com/) had a fabulous selection of their delectable confections on hand to sample. Lucky ladies also enjoyed the complimentary seated massages by Massage Envy at Boca Park. Jace Cripsin of Chippendales had hearts fluttering and ladies blushing as he posed for pictures. Hotel California Restaurant & Cantina (http://www.hotelcaliforniarestaurant.com/) who specializes in traditional Baja California cuisine with a modern twist and provided the tasty appetizers.

However the most heartfelt moment of the night came when the spectacular Diamond and Pink Sapphire Pendant valued at $3,000 was won by Breast Cancer Survivor Barbara! She was in tears and could not believe that she won this treasure! MJ Christensen graciously donated this spectacular piece among others!
