EDC Debuts New Cathedral Theme Stage! HUGE! Fireworks & More!
PC-aLIVE Coverage for Insomniac |
PC-Doug Van Sant |
Night
one of the 18th annual Electric Daisy Carnival has come to a close. Once again,
Insomniac welcomed a sold-out crowd to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway to discover
a colorful world filled with stunning new art installations, captivating
performers, and a mind-blowing, six-minute fireworks display that, for the
first time, encircled the entire venue.
Insomniac
debuted a dramatic new kineticFIELD stage featuring a cathedral theme that
presented the DJ booth as a giant pipe organ, and flanked by two massive owls
with outstretched wings. It is the largest stage in Insomniac history, spanning
440 feet wide and 80 feet tall. The structure features more than 1,000 lighting
fixtures, 30 lasers, and requires 2.5 million watts of power.
For
this year’s festival, 20 new and returning art installations were scattered
throughout the grounds for fans to explore. With its whimsical, towering
leaves, the Lilly Pond transported fans to a lush garden setting, while Hug
Life’s three 10x10 boxes—ornately decorated—brought out the kid inside all of
us.
In a
new initiative designed to help keep the grounds of EDC beautiful, Insomniac
and Global Inheritance set up the TRASHed recycling store. The interactive
program encourages fans to bring renewable materials such as water bottles,
cans and biodegradable cups to a designated collection area to earn points to
purchase merchandise.
For
the second year in a row, EDC welcomed all to bask in the spirit of love by
providing the opportunity to get married within the magical world of the
festival. Lovers were able to tie the knot or renew vows, while festival
friends could celebrate their bond in non-legal commitment ceremonies. For the
first time, wedding packages also included reception options, inviting
newlyweds to commemorate the special occasion with a champagne toast and
appetizers. A second package also gave the wedding party and their guests a
choice of entrée from the VIP Dining Deck menu, along with a commemorative
bottle of champagne for the bride and groom signed by the Insomniac team.
As a
reminder, for those who are unable to join us Under the Electric Sky, Insomniac
has partnered with 7UP for the first time to present curated content using 50
cameras throughout the festival grounds. Fans can catch some of the excitement
from the festival by tuning into insomniac.com/curated from 8:30 p.m. PST to
8:30 a.m. PST each night.
EDC
returns with even bigger surprises for night two tonight as gates open at 7
p.m.

Stanley Cup Winners LA Kings Take Over XS Nightclub & PARTY!
It
was all smiles and celebrations for the L.A. Kings at XS Las Vegas Thursday night.
Less than a week after their big win over the New York Rangers, the Stanley Cup
champions were welcomed into the club by the notorious light wands as they
descended the stairs. The teammates were escorted to a table centrally located
to overlook the dance floor as hosts held signs that proclaimed them ‘champs’
and confetti rained down.
Defensemen
Jeff Schultz, Drew Doughty, Jake Muzzin, Alec Martinez, centermen Jarret Stoll,
Trevor Lewis, left wing Tanner Pearson, and goaltender Martin Jones took turns
showing off and proudly holding the Cup above their heads for the entire club
to see. Once settled in their booth, the champions popped a bottle of bubbly,
poured it into the famous trophy and drank throughout the evening.
The
Kings bonded and enjoyed their win while Avicii kicked off XS Las Vegas’ EDC
weekend lineup.
