In partnership with sponsor Dotty’s, the Museum will show its appreciation to these individuals with FREE admission during Teacher Appreciation Week, May 4 – 10. In 1985, the National PTA established Teacher Appreciation Week as the first full week of May.

In addition, Nevada residents can always take advantage of buy one, get one free admission after 1 p.m. on Tuesdays. Fantastic Culinary Experience Coming Up! Vegas Uncork'd!

In a unique cross-cultural culinary exchange, a team of acclaimed chefs from Japan, China, Singapore and Australia are teaming up with American culinary luminaries Mario Batali, Daniel Boulud, Thomas Keller, and Buddy Valastro to create THE NIGHT MARKET: EAST MEETS WEST, an authentic Asian-inspired outdoor food and beverage festival.

The amazing night of food, fun and entertainment, part of Vegas Uncork’d by Bon Appétit, will be held May 8 from 8-11 p.m. in the Doge’s Palace plaza of The Venetian Las Vegas.   

The event will feature two of Singapore’s most internationally known culinary superstars, Justin Quek of Sky On 57 and Tewtsuya Wakuda of Waku Ghin, both of Marina Bay Sands in Singapore; and Luke Mangan, one of Australia’s leading chefs and restaurateurs.  

The three-hour event will feature an exquisite menu with spectacular dishes, including dim sum, Peking duck, sea urchin, and wok-fried Maine lobster. Guests will also experience Asian-inspired mixology, including world-class sake, Asian beer and wine.

“This is going to be the finest event of the year and the biggest international celebration for Vegas Uncork’d,” said Sebastien Silvestri, Vice President of Food & Beverage for The Venetian Las Vegas.

In addition to the delicious drinks and delights, guests will be entertained at The Night Market.  The stars of PANDA!, the first resident production from China on the Las Vegas Strip, will perform a taste of their show from The Palazzo Theatre. This extraordinary cast is made up from members of the China National Acrobatic Troupe, the China Star Dance Troupe and the Shaolin Monastery Kung Fu Monks Troupe and produced by An Zhao, who is best known in America for the 2008 opening and closing ceremonies of the Summer Olympics in Beijing.

The evening will also feature Chefs Mario Batali and Buddy Valastro as the headlining mentors to two students from Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in the Chase Sapphire Preferred Grill Challenge as they vie for $20,000 in scholarship funds during The Night Market.

Peter Facinelli, best known for his role as Dr. Carlisle Cullen in the “Twilight” movie series, dined at TAO Asian Bistro on Friday evening. The actor and a friend enjoyed the Peking Duck Spring Roll with Hoisin Sauce and Crispy Orange Chicken, mentioning that the food was excellent before leaving.


Facinelli then headed upstairs to TAO Nightclub where he was seen graciously interacting with fans and taking in the sounds of DJ Politik.

Authentic Mexican street tacos, priced from $13 to $15 for three, will include the choice of crispy fish with cilantro mayo; lobster topped with chipotle mayo; pulled chicken topped with chipotle sauce; carnitas complemented by Mexican herbs; and grilled rib eye served with cascabel sauce.

Love Tequila! The Commissary Kitchen Debuts Over 100 Tequilas For Cinco de Mayo!

On Cinco de Mayo, The Commissary Kitchen by Richard Sandoval will debut its brand-new tequila collection, comprising over 100 unique and rare spirits. Chef Sandoval’s National Beverage Director Robert Day helped create the collection. Day, who is also a certified tequila expert by the Consejo Regulador del Tequila (The Tequila Regulatory Council), worked along with the Las Vegas team for nearly six months to perfect this collection.

“Our goal is to introduce our guests to the fine art of sipping tequila, not just shooting it,” says Day. “This will be an incredibly eclectic collection ranging from the popular, mainstream tequilas ranging to unique flavors they’ll only be able to find at The Commissary in downtown.”

To celebrate the collection’s debut, The Commissary will feature Cinco De Mayo specials beginning Saturday, May 3. The specials will include Red Pozole or Tortilla Soup ($4); appetizers such as tacos ($1), three flautas ($5), quesadillas ($5 for cheese, $6 for chicken), brisket nachos ($5) and aqua fresco (watermelon, horchata, jamaica or cucumber).

Amongst the most expensive labels will be the Don Julio Patron Real 1942, El Mojito Mezcal and Patron Anejo Grandiose. Furthermore, every type of Patron including Blanco, Anejo and Reprezado will be available. The Commissary will also offer a new line of infused tequilas with flavors including jalapeno, tropical and coconut.  Prices on this exciting list range from $7 to $95 a shot. All guests will receive a tequila menu and tasting notes in order to understand the plethora of choices available.

“This tequila collection will be the only one of its kind in Las Vegas, designed to pair perfectly with Chef Sandoval’s culinary creations at The Commissary,” concludes Day. “The Commissary is where tequila aficionados will be flocking come Cinco de Mayo and beyond.”

The Commissary is on located on Downtown3rd, inside the Grand Tower of the Downtown Grand Las Vegas Hotel & Casino. The eatery is open for breakfast (6 to 11 a.m.), lunch (11 a.m. to 4 p.m.), dinner (4 to 10 p.m.) and late night 10 p.m. to midnight on Friday and Saturday evenings; with Happy Hour every day from 4 to 7 p.m.
