Sunday
afternoon, Marquee Nightclub & Dayclub opened its doors and dance floor to
more than 500 children, parents and volunteers for the 2nd Annual Dance Against
Obesity Camp J.U.M.P., sponsored by Kohl’s Cares. The Jump For Joy Foundation,
a non-profit aimed at tackling childhood obesity, and TAO Group Cares, the
charitable arm of TAO Group, teamed up to put on the free event for children
and parents. Noted volunteers included BMX Pro Ricardo Laguna, Miss Nevada
Collegiate Tianna Tuamoheloa, and Miss Nevada Latina Idania Ramirez.
Boxer
Lonnie Love was on-hand to help lead a group warm-up before the children split
up to learn various dance styles and techniques from industry professionals.
TAO Group resident DJs Lema and Franke Rempe set the soundtrack for the
afternoon of grooving inside the nightclub as well as under the Dayclub Dome.
Meanwhile, upstairs in The Library, TAO Group Corporate Executive Sous-Chef
Marc Marrone and Real Results Fitness Owner Paul Rosenberg walked parents
through a nutrition seminar highlighting ways to help children eat healthy
without breaking the bank.
After
the heart-pumping dance clinic wrapped up, the entire group was treated to
special performances from Prodigy Dance, B-Boy Bailrok, Culture Shock, Future
Shock, Trouble Makers, The House Company and Jay R. Beatbox & Angel
Escamilla. Afterward, everyone came together to form a giant huddle and cheered
to the successful afternoon as confetti rained throughout the room.
