Treasure Island Hosts The National Thoroughbred Racing Handicapping Event PLUS Filming!

As Treasure Island Las Vegas hosts the National Thoroughbred Racing Association’s National Handicapping Champion (NHC) January 24 through 26, Esquire Network will be on-site filming for its new reality show “Horseplayers.”

In the show’s premiere episode, viewers are introduced to Matt Bernier, a Massachusetts realtor; Christina Hellmers, a regular at Del Mar racetrack; Michael Beychok, a political consultant from Louisiana; John Conte, a previous NHC winner; Kevin “The Brooklyn Cowboy” Cox, a retired NYPD mounted police officer; and Team Rotondo, comprised of a team of friends. “Horseplayers” will follow these high-rollers in their attempt to qualify for the NHC.

Throughout the three-day NHC, camera crews will capture every exciting moment of the Championship at Treasure Island, while providing a behind-the-scenes look at how these betters make their decisions.

In its 15th year, NHC is the culmination of a year-long series of NTRA-sanctioned local tournaments conducted by racetracks, casino racebooks, off-track betting facilities and horse racing and handicapping websites, each of which sends its top qualifiers to the national finals.
