You
Got The Power Charitable Foundation (You Got The Power) with Emcee Chet
Buchanan from KLUC 98.5 and the Morning Zoo will host the 3rd Annual Law
Enforcement Charity Date Auction on Wednesday, Oct. 23 at the Gold Spike (217
Las Vegas Blvd. N) in downtown Las Vegas.
A dozen local law enforcement officers, both men and women, representing
date packages will be available for “auction.”
A cocktail reception begins at 6 p.m. with the charity auction beginning
at 7 p.m. All of the event’s proceeds
will benefit You Got The Power Charitable Foundation, which provides
programming directly to women, youth and families in order to break the cycle
of destructive behavior. For more
information and to purchase tickets for the event go to
www.YouGotThePower.EventBrite.com.
This
year, the organization is honoring those women affected personally by domestic
violence by releasing live butterflies in honor and remembrance of women. Hundreds of butterflies are expected to be
released by participants during the cocktail reception to mark this event. Lanterns are still available for purchase
online at www.HonorAWoman.EventBrite.com.
“There
is nothing like looking into the sky and seeing the wings of hundreds of women
honored,” shares ShannonRae, a foundation volunteer and the creator of the I AM
Powerful program delivered to You Got The Power clients. “Especially in a state where 50-percent of
the crime is associated to domestic violence, where we have the highest murder
rate for intimate partner violence and in Las Vegas where we second highest
rate of sex trafficking in the United States.”
After
the butterfly release, local radio host Chet Buchanan will take the stage
auctioning off the local law enforcement officers and respective date packages
including show tickets, dinners for two and wine. Other items available for auction during the
evening include such as vacations, spa packages, cigars, luxury handbags and
golf packages.
“This
is our most exclusive event of the year and it makes a huge statement and deep
impact with the women in our valley. Many of our donors purchase the packages
for a date with their spouse or significant other, or as Christmas gifts for
loved ones,” says Uzuri, You Got The Power’s president of the board. “Officers are optional. They just bring the fun!” shares Uzuri, president
of the board.
About
You Got The Power
You
Got the Power is a charitable 501c3 foundation that works with women, youth and
families who are healing from trauma, violence, addiction and fractured family
dynamics. You Got the Power directly
provides funding for participants to attend the “I Am Powerful” program – a
program that empowers them to identify and transcend core issues that lead to
destructive, reoccurring behaviors. The goal is for them to sustain that change
for a lifetime, and to make an impact that is cyclical and generational within
their families and in their local community.
