As
part of the property’s 58th anniversary, the Riviera Casino & Hotel held a
search for the next Strip comic headliner and Maria Walsh, the “Naughty Mommy”
from Long Island, N.Y. was crowned Riviera Next Comic Headliner. As the winner
she will be headlining for a week at the legendary Riviera Comedy Club from
Monday, June 17 through Sunday, June 23. This will be the first time Walsh
performs in Las Vegas.
As
part of the nationwide search, amateur and professional comedians were asked to
submit a 3-5 minute video of their act. A total of 226 entries were accepted
from all over the country and the Riviera whittled those submissions down to 16
semifinalists. The winner of each semifinal event competed at the club in the
finale.
