Whether
it’s a pink shirt, pink tie or a pair of pink socks, BODIES…The Exhibition
offers visitors who wear the bright color during the month of October
complimentary admission with the purchase of an adult ticket for Breast Cancer
Awareness Month. However guests wish to display their support, it is the hope
that everyone who visits The Exhibition walks away feeling empowered and
motivated to create positive lifestyle changes that could help prevent the
life-threatening disease.
According
to Susan G. Komen’s website:
Among
American women, an estimated 290,170 new cases of invasive breast cancer will
be diagnosed in 2012.
In
2012, it is estimated that among U.S. women there will be 39,510 breast cancer
deaths.
More
than 40 cohort and case-control studies support a link between alcohol and
breast cancer risk. Overall, having one to two drinks (or more) per day appears
to increase the risk of breast cancer compared to not drinking.
Most
case-control studies have found a decreased risk of breast cancer in women who
are the most active.
