Saturday,
August 11, Bloc Party and Santigold worked their magic for the audience at
Boulevard Pool at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. British indie group Bloc Party
started the night off right by rocking out to fan favorites like “Real Talk,“
Banquet” and “Helicopter.” Pop princess Santigold then switched the tempo by
getting the crowd moving with “L.E.S. Artistes,” “Say Aha” and “Freak Like Me.”
London-based
Bloc Party released first studio album, Silent Alarm, in 2005, which made it to
No. 3 on the British album chart and broke into the U.S. Billboard 200 chart.
Comprised of lead singer Kele Okereke, guitarist Russell Lissack, bassist
Gordon Moakes and drummer Matt Tong, the band has named The Cure and Radiohead
as influencers. After being nominated for numerous NME awards, Bloc Party
continues to develop unique sounds with upcoming album, Four, scheduled for
release on August 20.
NME’s
2008 Breakthrough Artist, Santigold, debuted her first studio album, Santogold,
to rave reviews with hit “L.E.S. Artistes” earning the number two spot on Rolling
Stone’s 2008 Singles of the Year list. Hailing from Philadelphia, Santigold,
also known as Santi White, has collaborated with artists such as Lily Allen,
Diplo, Christina Aguilera, N.E.R.D.’s Pharrell Williams and more, as well as
opened for acts like M.I.A., Björk, Kanye West, Jay-Z, Coldplay, Red Hot Chili
Peppers and Beastie Boys. Her most recent album, Master of My Make-Believe, was
released in May of this year and will undoubtedly continue to make her one of
the most in-demand artists of her kind.
Next
up as part of The Cosmopolitan's summer concert series is Jane’s Addiction on
Friday, September 7 and The Offspring on Saturday, October 6, both at Boulevard
Pool.
The
Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas features artists at the forefront of the touring
world and emerging artists that will inspire the next musical movements coupled
with spectacularly-designed, technology-driven venues. Perched high above The
Las Vegas Strip, Boulevard Pool is a multilevel pool experience by day and an
