Taylor Hicks wins The BiLLe Celeb & gives $12k to Wounded Warriors!

American Idol” season five winner and Bally’s Las Vegas headliner Taylor Hicks is the recent winner of The BiLLe Celeb Charity Challenge and will present a check for  €10,000 (approx. US $12,000) to the Wounded Warrior Project during his show on Tuesday, July 31.

On Thursday, July 26, Hicks won The BiLLe Celeb Charity Challenge, an online contest where "Superfans" upload celebrities and "Fans" vote daily, ultimately directing a pool of charitable donations to the winning celeb's favorite charity. Each week, the Superfan who nominated the winner and one Fan who helped vote that celeb to victory have a chance to take part in a ceremonial check presentation.

Superfan Holly Dey from Connecticut received a final push with the help of Taylor Hicks himself, which helped her to gain the win.

“This is such an exciting experience,” said Dey who nominated Hicks and was flown in by the contest operator to meet Hicks and present the check. “I was already flying out to Las Vegas to see Taylor Hicks’ show when they let me know that I’d won the contest. I’m a huge fan of Taylor’s and love that he supports the military with both his music and his actions.”

“It’s great to be able to reach through to fans with Twitter and make something like this a possibility,” said Hicks. “My American Idol fan base came through once again and I look forward to meeting Holly and to presenting these funds to Wounded Warrior Project.”

Amy Frelly, warrior outreach coordinator for Wounded Warrior Project, would concur. “We are so grateful to Taylor and his amazing fans for their support, and to The BiLLe Celeb Charity Challenge for this incredible donation which will help provide resources to support our 18 different programs that will continue to honor and empower wounded warriors.”

Anyone 18 or older can add a celebrity or vote at CelebCharityChallenge.org, and there is no cost to participate. The winning celebrity is announced every Thursday at 9 a.m. ET.
