Taboo & Apl.de.ap |
Friday night, Taboo of Black Eyed Peas celebrated his birthday at Rain Nightclub at
Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas with a surprise birthday cake presentation
from band member Apl.de.ap and a special performance from Taboo’s upcoming solo
album.
The Taboo Experience |
Right
before Taboo started his set, “The Taboo Experience,” Apl.de.ap rushed the
stage and grabbed the microphone yelling, “Hold up, hold up! We are about to
celebrate one of my best friend’s birthdays tonight and we need a cake.” The
music stopped and girls with sparklers flanked the three-layer cake that was
red and black with edible confetti, stunna shades and headphones to present it
to Taboo on stage. Apl.de.ap led the crowd in singing ‘Happy Birthday’ and as
soon as it ended Taboo blew the candle out on top of the cake.
Sporting
a dark denim jacket with studs and panels of portions of the American flag,
jeans, a gold chain and watch, and white tank-top, Taboo took the stage with an
explosive performance starting with a mix of Jay-Z and Kanye West’s ‘Ball So
Hard.’ The interactive DJ set had Taboo spinning, dancing, singing and even
jumping on top of the DJ booth for the lively nightclubbers. Taboo’s dancers
complimented each song with costume changes and different styles of dance… they
even took bottles of Ketel One around during LMFAO’s ‘Shots’ and poured it into
people’s mouths. Apl.de.ap even joined Taboo for a number of songs, getting on
the microphone to sing and act as hype-man during Black Eyed Peas’ ‘I Gotta
Feeling.’
In an
interview before his performance, Taboo said there are no immediate plans for
Black Eyed Peas to start working on new material stating, “We’re so focused on
individual projects because we needed a little break.” Taboo is currently
working on his solo album and last night he gave guests a little taste of it
showcasing the new music video and performing ‘I Don’t Want to Dance’ with Alex
Gaudino.
Taboo & wife Jaymie |
The
night ended by Taboo surprising his wife, Jaymie Dizon, by pulling her on stage
while Marvin Gaye’s ‘Let’s Get It On’ played. Their four year anniversary was
July 12.
