Broadway Play Love Letters Comes To The Space LV

Grab your loved one and get your romance on with the Pulitzer Prize-nominated play by A.R. Gurney, “Love Letters.”  Featuring five couples from the Las Vegas entertainment community, “Love Letters” is the first play to debut at The Space (3460 Cavaretta Court), the new community-driven, charity-based arts complex that opened on Jan. 5 in Las Vegas.  “Love Letters” is presented as a limited, five-day engagement Feb. 10 – Feb. 14, 2017.

“Love Letters” features the following schedule:

Friday, Feb. 10            Penn Jillette & Emily Jillette
Saturday, Feb. 11        Robert Torti & DeLee Lively Torti
Sunday, Feb. 12          Josh Strickland & Todd DuBail
Monday, Feb. 13        Graham Fenton & Nicole Kaplan Fenton
Tuesday, Feb. 14        Clint Holmes & Kelly Clinton Holmes

A disarmingly funny and unforgettably emotional portrait about the powerful connection of love, “Love Letters” is the story of two friends –  rebellious Melissa Gardner and straight-arrow Andrew Makepeace Ladd III – who have exchanged notes, cards and letters with each other for over 50 years. From second grade, through summer vacations, to college, and well into adulthood, they have spent a lifetime discussing their hopes and ambitions, dreams and disappointments, and victories and defeats. But long after the letters are done, the real question remains: Have they made the right choices or is the love of their life only a letter away?

Tickets are $20, general admission seating. Table seating is also available for $35 per ticket.  Tickets for this special engagement are on sale now online at www.thespacelv.com or at The Space box office at 3460 Cavaretta Court.

The Epicurean Charitable Foundation Is Looking For Scholarship Applications

Epicurean Charitable Foundation (ECF) is inviting Clark County high school seniors to apply for its scholarship, providing full-ride scholarships for those who attend UNLV, or up to $48,000 per year, for those attending an out of state accredited post-secondary institution. All students must be pursuing a bachelor's degree in hospitality, food and beverage, or culinary. The application can be found at ecflv.org and must be received by March 13, 2017.

Since inception in 2001, ECF has given $1.62 million in scholarships to Clark County students. The nonprofit organization goes beyond just funding by providing each student unique mentorship opportunities with top food & beverage and hospitality executives, along with educational trips, networking and internships.

Scholarship applicants must plan to obtain a bachelor's degree and be enrolled on a full-time basis with a major in hotel management, food & beverage, culinary or related programs. Other qualifications include demonstration of financial need and a 3.0 cumulative GPA.

"Most students never meet those behind their scholarship money," said ECF Chair Michael Kennedy. "Our recipients not only receive the funds for schooling, they get mentorship and guidance from industry professionals who take a personal interest in helping them on their journey to starting their hospitality careers. Our goal is for our students to have the network and experience outside the classroom to receive job offers upon graduation."

The application and more information about the scholarship can be found at ecflv.org. Get social and follow ECF on Instagram and Twitter - twitter.com/epicureanlv and Facebook facebook.com/epicureanlv/.

Naked City Pizza Becomes Official Pizza At LVMS!

Las Vegas Motor Speedway has signed a deal to make Naked City Pizza its official pizza, the track announced Monday.

Per the agreement, the Las Vegas-based Naked City Pizza will be sold at LVMS events throughout the year, including the upcoming NASCAR Weekend March 10-12. Fans visiting LVMS facilities can enjoy an array of the Sicilian-style pan pizzas that have been profiled in numerous publications in Las Vegas.

Naked City Pizza debuted at LVMS during the Duel in the Desert in November and also provided its tasty slices at the Speedway Children’s Charities tree lighting ceremony at the LVMS Media Center in December.

“We are excited to welcome Naked City Pizza to the LVMS family and look forward to providing our fans with some great pizza at our events,” LVMS President Chris Powell said. “Naked City Pizza has built a reputation for high quality and delicious pizza, and it is a great addition to our already robust variety of food options at LVMS. We think our fans will enjoy the product just as much as we have, and we anticipate a great partnership for years to come.”

Naked City Pizza, which has been featured on Food Network’s popular hit show “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives,” is owned and operated by Chris and Michael Palmeri and has its roots in Buffalo, N.Y. Using their grandmother’s recipe, the Palmeri brothers have built Naked City Pizza into a burgeoning business in Las Vegas.

Launched in 2009 as a tiny hot dog cart in the parking lot of the Las Vegas landmark Dino’s, Naked City grew into a sandwich shop and eventually became Naked City Pizza inside Moon Doggie’s Bar two blocks West of Interstate 15 off Desert Inn Road. The Palmeris launched a Naked City Pizza location on Paradise Road and Naked City Tavern on South Pecos Road.

Most recently, the brothers opened Naked City Pizza Express inside the Blue Diamond Saloon off Blue Diamond. In addition to pizza, Naked City Pizza’s menu includes submarine sandwiches, chicken wings, salads, fries and appetizers. Business has been good for the New Yorkers’ brand.

“It’s a thrill to join forces with Las Vegas Motor Speedway as we continue expanding our brand in Las Vegas,” said Chris Palmeri, former executive chef at MGM Grand. “LVMS is a big part of Las Vegas’ sports world, and we’re excited to bring our pizza to the speedway and its massive fan base. Naked City Pizza is definitely on the move in Las Vegas, and this alliance is a great way to broaden our horizons. We look forward to a long partnership.”

Made with from scratch daily using the freshest ingredients, Naked City Pizza continues to impress Las Vegas residents and visitors as the business grows in the valley. For more information about Naked City Pizza, log on to its website at www.nakedcitylv.com.

Tickets for LVMS’ 2017 NASCAR Weekend and other events are available at www.LVMS.com or by calling 1-800-644-4444.

Chinese New Year Celebrations Are Coming To The Venetian & The Palazzo

The Venetian® and The Palazzo® Las Vegas will celebrate Chinese New Year in traditional style with an extravagant décor, entertainment, and food and beverage offerings. The excitement kicks off at 3:00 p.m. on Jan. 28, with a ceremonial lion dance and eye ceremony.

THE WATERFALL ATRIUM AND GARDENS TRANSFORM FOR CHINESE NEW YEAR

To commemorate the Year of the Rooster, The Venetian and The Palazzo's floral and horticulture team worked with a team of artisans and consulted a feng shui master to create the massive Chinese New Year display.

"Planning for this extravagant Chinese New Year display began more than a year ago," said Dana Beatty, executive director of floral and horticulture at The Venetian and The Palazzo. "Our guests cherish the Chinese New Year holiday so we strive to create a display that is both visually stunning and culturally accurate."

The feature of the installation is a fire rooster that stands 15 feet tall. The magnificent creature weighs 3,500 pounds and was crafted of steel and resin, hand-painted then covered with approximately 68,000 crystals.

Dotting the entire installation throughout the resort are eight smaller roosters, each hand-carved and painted by a team of six artists.

In addition, a dragon that spans 18 feet in length adorns the infinity pond in the middle of the Waterfall Atrium.

EYE CEREMONY AND LION DANCE CELEBRATION ON JAN. 28

An important ritual of Chinese culture symbolizing good luck and prosperity, the lion dance will officially kick off the Chinese New Year celebrations at The Venetian and The Palazzo at 3:00 p.m. on Jan 28. The ceremonial lion dance will begin with an eye ceremony at The Venetian porte cochere. The dance will wind its way through The Venetian lobby and casino before stopping in The Palazzo Waterfall Atrium, then continuing through The Palazzo casino, lobby, and ending at The Palazzo porte cochere. This exciting event features firecrackers, and a parade of dancers and drummers in authentic clothing.

SAM HUI LIVE IN LAS VEGAS

Hong Kong musician, singer, songwriter, and actor, Sam Hui will be performing at The Venetian Las Vegas for Chinese New Year. Hui is credited with popularizing Cantopop with the infusion of Western-style music and using popular street Cantonese verbiage in his lyrics. Hui will perform on Saturday, Jan. 28 in The Venetian Ballroom with special guest Shannon Lee, daughter of famed martial artist Bruce Lee.

Tickets can be purchased at any box office at The Venetian or The Palazzo, or by calling 866.641.7469.

A FEAST FIT FOR AN EMPEROR

Hong Kong Café at The Palazzo has created a special limited-time menu in honor of Chinese New Year.

Guests are invited to celebrate the occasion with a variety of authentic dishes such as braised golden dried scallop; steamed live spot prawns; crispy squab with roasted salt; pan-fried scallops and asparagus with xo sauce, and more.

The menu will be available from Jan. 28 through Feb. 8. For reservations, call 702.607.2220.

CHINESE LEGEND POPS UP AT MADAME TUSSAUDS

In time for Chinese New Year, Madame Tussauds Las Vegas inside Grand Canal Shoppes at The Venetian is celebrating the holiday by displaying one of Hong Kong's movie icons, Jackie Chan. Guests will be able to interact with more than 100 famous faces, including the Chinese legend who is making a special appearance just for the occasion.

Also in celebration of the new year, Madame Tussauds will pay homage to the lucky number 8 with a special admission price of $18.88 per person. The attraction will be beautifully adorned with traditional Chinese décor to ring in the year of the rooster.

This offer will be available from Jan. 19 through Feb. 28. For reservations, 866.641.7469.

CHEERS TO GOOD FORTUNE THE ATRIUM

The Atrium at The Palazzo Las Vegas, a new retail emporium located on The Palazzo casino floor, is celebrating Chinese New Year with the new line addition of the 50-year-old Hardy Cognac, Noces d'Or Sublime. The thin glass plaque on the front of this decanter showcases the coat of arms of the Hardy family, a bold conqueror rooster.

Noces d'Or Sublime is a floral cognac with notes of budding lilac and features a wonderfully balanced cognac with fruity, flowery and very slightly woody notes. The decanter reverts to the golden age of the glass creation in France, the Art Nouveau style. The bas-relief decor was conceived by a well-known sculptor and crafted by famous French glass masters.
