Comedian Lisa Lampanelli To Perform At Treasure Island

Insult comic Lisa Lampanelli will perform at the Treasure Island Theater Friday, February 10 at 9 p.m.

Lampanelli grew up watching the Dean Martin roasts on television and has said that she never saw stand-up comedy until after she began performing herself. She got her big break in 2002 as the only female comedian invited to the New York Friars Club roast of Chevy Chase. Since then, she has roasted Jeff Foxworthy, Pamela Anderson, Flavor Flav, William Shatner and Donald Trump. (Lampanelli was one of the final four of the fifth season of “Celebrity Apprentice.”) She served as roastmaster for Larry the Cable Guy and frequently participates in “The Howard Stern Show” roasts.

An “equal opportunity offender,” Lampanelli is known for her racy and racially charged use of insults, slurs and stereotypes. As Jim Carrey describes her, “By boldly poking fun at everyone, Lisa releases us from a prison of cultural guilt. She’s more than a standup. She’s a standout.”

“Famously filthy” Lampanelli’s stand-up routine has grown more personal in recent years, including stories about her recent 100-pound weight loss and divorce. This shift was captured in her fifth stand-up special, “Back to the Drawing Board,” for which she was nominated for her second Grammy Award for “Best Comedy Album.”

Lampanelli began her career writing for Rolling Stone and Popular Mechanics, and she still writes periodically today. She released her autobiography “Chocolate, Please: My Adventures in Food, Fat and Freaks” in 2009. She recently wrote and starred in “Stuffed,” an off-Broadway play inspired by her weight loss. A limited run of the show opened in October at WP Theater in New York City.

Tickets are available starting at $59.95, plus taxes and service charges, and can be purchased by calling 866-712-9308 or 702-894-7722, or visiting www.treasureisland.com.

Want To Burn The Fat Away? Try A Juice Fast From The Juice Standard

The Juice Standard will help kick start New Year’s resolutions to lose weight and live healthier with the company’s signature juice fasts. Customized for full-body nutrition, the juice fasts are available in three options: the Standard Fast, Green Standard and “B.Y.O.F.” or Build Your Own Fast.

“Whether it is for weight loss, healthier skin or the health benefits of ingesting high levels of vital nutrients, anti-inflammatories and antioxidants, juicing is a fantastic way to hit the reset button and start the New Year with a better body, inside and out,” says The Juice Standard’s Co-Founder and COO, Marcella Williams.

The juices included in the Standard Fast focus on four categories of ingredients that are widely known in juicing circles for their ability to reset the body and boost metabolism: greens, roots, clears, and nut milks. The Standard Fast includes six 16-ounce glass bottles of cold-pressed juice made from organic and locally sourced produce. Recipients receive a daily supply of two bottles of Bee WHealthy™, a nutrient-dense combination of cucumber, celery, romaine, kale, apple, dandelion, parsley, lemon, ginger and turmeric; two Bee Energized to increase energy; one Bee Magnificent nut milk, to provide magnesium, support heart health and prevent disease; and a choice of Bee Pure—an apple-sweetened lemonade rich in B-vitamins and designed to help flush the body of toxins—or Bee Vibrant—a spicy lemonade with cayenne pepper to increase energy and speed the metabolism.

For more advanced juicers, the Green Standard incorporates two bottles of Bee WHealthy™ for total health management; two Bee Alkaline, a powerfully simple mixture of cucumber, celery, kale, and radish for obtaining glowing skin; and again, a choice between Bee Pure or Bee Vibrant. Also included is one bottle of Bee Magnificent, the popular nut milk made of raw cashews, dates, agave, Ceylon cinnamon, and vanilla bean to support bone strength and satiety throughout the fast.

The B.Y.O.F., or Build Your Own Fast, includes any six juices chosen by the juicer with the help of The Juice Standard staff, who can assist with pairing a juicer’s palate and health goals with the items on the menu. To help juicers build their fast package, complimentary juice tastings are also offered all day, every day, at each location.

Williams’ partner—Co-Founder and CEO Jamie Stephenson—recommends drinking a full glass of water between each juice. “Hydration is key with any health regimen and helps prevent hunger pangs,” says Stephenson.

The juice fasts are priced at $59 per day, plus tax. Juice fasts are available for pre-order by calling The Juice Standard’s two neighborhood locations—

Help Shelter Animals! Nathan Adelson Hospice Bed & Blanket Drive

Nathan Adelson Hospice’s Pet Therapy Program is once again helping its furry friends in the local animal shelters. The Pet Therapy Program, which comprises 14 trained therapy dogs, will hold its 6th Annual Dog Bed & Blanket Drive to help keep animals warm this season as the colder weather permeates the Las Vegas valley.

In addition, NetEffect, a full-service provider of computer and information technology support and consulting services for businesses, will serve as a fourth drop-off point. The company is located at 5575 S. Durango Dr., Suite #110, in Las Vegas.

Lisa Browder, manager of the Complementary Therapies Program at Nathan Adelson Hospice, said more than 6,900 items have been donated to local shelters over the last five winter seasons thanks to the generous collections received by community members, volunteers and employees.

“Our Pet Therapy Program is filled with compassionate pet therapists who are thrilled to collect items for local shelter animals,” Browder said.  “We all love to support these animals looking for a forever home and also the shelters that house and take care of them.  In fact, most of the pets working in our program originally came from shelters.”

The Pet Therapy Program is part of the Bonnie Schreck Memorial Complementary Therapies Program, which was created in 1999 as a means by which the hospice could provide a greater range of valuable therapies to patients. Patients and loved ones are able to request various therapies and techniques, such as pet therapy, reiki, reflexology, massage, and aromatherapy, to help ease discomfort by providing a calming and soothing environment. The goal is to provide the most effective, innovative and compassionate care possible. The Pet Therapy Program’s innovative strategy is designed to help improve the quality of life for hospice patients and has been one of the most successful therapies implemented thus far. It has been shown that spending time with a friendly animal can lift depression, lower blood pressure and respiratory rates, and bring comfort.

From Jan. 1 through Feb. 28, 2017, all Nathan Adelson Hospice locations will serve as drop-off points for new or gently used items including: Dog and cat beds; blankets; towels; wash cloths; linens; and unopened pet food.
