Reckless In Las Vegas W/Special Guest Will Perform At The Italian American Club

Reckless In Vegas announces a new performance date on Friday, May 13, at one of Las Vegas’ most historic social clubs—the Italian American Club of Southern Nevada. The band will be joined by special guest Kelly Clinton-Holmes and the evening’s performance will be filmed for inclusion in the Reckless In Vegas’ new music video for “Luck Be a Lady,” due out this spring. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m. General admission tickets are $25.

“It’s been one year since I returned to my hometown of Las Vegas,” said Michael Shapiro, founder, guitarist and lead vocalist of Reckless In Vegas. “Making this music video has been a fantastic way to mark the anniversary and we can’t think of a better place to finish it. We filmed on a dry lake bed, at the Neon Museum Boneyard and now we’ll wrap things up at the iconic Italian American Club. We can’t wait!”

A hub of the Italian-American community for more than 50 years, the Italian American Club represents an extraordinary backdrop for Reckless In Vegas production show, which showcases the imagery, banter and classic music from the 1960s “glory days” of Las Vegas entertainment, when Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin filled Strip showrooms.

Reckless In Vegas combines music and mood from the 1960s with a contemporary rock band aesthetic. It’s not just a band—members Shapiro, Ryan Low, aka Dr. Fu (drums, vocals) and Chris Nichols (bass, vocals), together with Reckless Dancers JoLae Brandt and Sidney Kounkel, have created an exciting show that incorporates live performances of modern versions of songs by artists such as not only Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin, but also Elvis, Sonny & Cher, Frankie Valli, Neil Diamond, Johnny Cash and Bobby Darin. The band also incorporates dynamic production-show elements so whether you remember the swinging Vegas lounge era days or were born later, Reckless In Vegas has something for everyone. Video montages, dialogue, humor, modern hard-rocking grooves and tender moments of balladry combine to create a truly original take on this classic genre. Think The Rat Pack meets Green Day.

For tickets, call (702) 457-3866 or book online here - iacvegas.com/shop/viewitem.php?productid=256&groupid=8 .

The Italian American Club is located at 2333 E. Sahara Ave., Las Vegas, Nevada 89104. For more information about Reckless In Vegas, visit www.RecklessInVegas.com

Celebrate Three Days Of Cinco De Mayo & JOD's B-Day At La Comida

La Comida, located at 100 Sixth St. in Downtown Las Vegas, will keep the tequila and beer flowing with “Cinco de Drinko,” a three-day triple fiesta celebrating Cinco de Mayo, the cantina’s three-year anniversary and the birthday of resident “funologist” John ‘JOD’ O’Donnell, from Thursday, May 5 through Saturday, May 7.

‘JOD’ assumes his annual birthday identity as ‘Juan’ O’Donnell, mixing up La Comida’s famed margaritas, including the tamarind and prickly pear, made from fresh fruit, and the Siempre Caliente, made with Herradura Blanco, passion fruit, fresh house sour mix and house-made hot sauce; or simple serving  more than 100 tequila selections and an array of cold Mexican beers for all of his amigos.

Mariachi will perform throughout the three-day weekend, which will also feature piñata smashings and the ‘Cinco Trio’: a fish taco, a Coronita and shot of Milagro tequila, priced at $9.99.

La Comida brings a festive vibe and a menu inspired by the cosmopolitan fare of Mexico City to the Fremont East Entertainment District of Downtown Las Vegas dining scene. Developed by the Morton Group, led by restaurateurs Jenna and Michael Morton, La Comida blends authenticity and tradition with a delightfully funky vibe. A seven-foot-tall sculptured monkey clings to the corner of the restaurant, welcoming guests with its ‘Day of the Dead’ bones flashing in neon pink.  The alleyway entry leads patrons inside, revealing a rustic interior of worn wooden floors, reclaimed tiles from Mexico, authentic church pews and stained glass from an abandoned church. A long bar, reminiscent of a classic Mexican cantina, spans an entire wall of the 3,000-square-foot restaurant.

La Comida is located at 100 Sixth St. and is open Monday through Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m., Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 2 a.m., and Saturday from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. More information is available at Facebook - www.facebook.com/LaComidaLV, Twitter - twitter.com/LaComidaLV and Instagram - www.instagram.com/lacomidalv/ . Nuccitelli held off Martin Sullins by .342 of a second in the first NASCAR Bombers feature of the night to secure his second career win at the famed 3/8-mile short track. Nuccitelli was in high spirits after his storybook triumph.

“It’s awesome,” said Nuccitelli, whose son, Tuscan, competes in the Bandolero Bandits division. “Thank you to all of the public safety workers out there, I know how hard you work. The biggest (key to success) is the people who surround you, and I have Dennis Thomas from Red Rock Garage who helps me.”

LVMS paid tribute to police, firefighters, EMTs and first responders on the special night, which included static vehicle displays, giveaways, interactive activities and a full schedule of 11 feature races. Representatives from numerous jurisdictions participated in opening ceremonies – which included an appearance from the Nevada Police and Fire Emerald Society Pipe and Drum Band – drove pace laps and waved green flags during the festivities.

Travis Boyle held off Chris “Spanky” Bosley by a nose to win the second USLCI Thunder Cars 20-lap feature of the night and deny Bosley a sweep of the division’s races. Boyle’s .074 margin of victory was easily the slimmest of the night.   It was good, hard racing,” said Boyle, who also won the track’s season-opening Thunder Cars race on March 26. “I knew that, if Spanky got underneath me, I’d be washing up, so I tried to protect that corner on the last lap.”

Bosley won the first 20-lapper of the evening to secure his first Bullring win since 2014.

Noah Gragson gave his mother, Jill, a great birthday present by winning the first of two NASCAR Super Late Model 35-lap races. It was a milestone victory at The Bullring for the budding star. “This is my first Super Late Model win here, so it’s special,” said Gragson, the 2015 K&N West Series runner-up.

Justin Johnson won the second Super Late Model race to move into a tie with Doug Hamm for fourth place all-time on The Bullring wins list with 44. It was Johnson’s first win at the track since 2014. "This win is memorable because of all of the police, paramedics and everyone coming out tonight,” said Johnson, a two-time Bullring season points champion. “Most importantly, Chris Bray and Phil’s Fabrication, John Boy Keller and J&S Machines put a heck of a car together.”

Martin Sullins, the 2014 NASCAR Bombers Bullring champion, followed Nuccitelli into the winner’s circle after crossing the line .425 of a second ahead of Kyle Jacks. “I’ve been waiting for this for a long time, and you just never give up,” Sullins said. “I want to thank my family and friends who come to the stockyard every single race.”

“Girl power” was on display at the paved oval as well, as Kayla Eschelman (USLCI Bandolero Outlaws) and Toni Bredinger (USAC HPD Midgets) won their classes’ features. Eschelman set a track record in qualifying, and Bredinger finished 2.858 seconds ahead of her twin sister, Annie.

Cameron Morga passed Brian Grandin on the 22nd lap of the 25-lap USLCI Legends feature to pick up his third consecutive win and fourth in five races dating back to the 2015 season. Peyton Saxton (NASCAR Grand American Modifieds) and R.J. Smotherman (USLCI Bandolero Bandits) also made their way to the winner’s circle on the special evening, earning their 15th and 13th career Saturday night victories, respectively.

NEXT EVENT: The Bullring will host College Night on Saturday, April 30, and Las Vegas-area college students, staff and faculty with valid IDs will receive free admission for themselves and a guest. North American Big Rig Racing, NASCAR Super Stocks (Twin 25s) and Bombers, Southwest Tour trucks, USLCI Legends, Bandoleros and Thunder Cars and Skid plate cars all will be in action.
