The Cupcakery Opens Third Location! AWESOME Sweets!

The Cupcakery, Las Vegas’ premier cupcake-centric bakery, opened its third Las Vegas location this week and is now serving clients on the East side of Las Vegas. The newest Cupcakery is located at 1150 E. Flamingo Rd. just west of Maryland Parkway and also services The Strip, UNLV and Central Las Vegas.

The Eastside location will also take orders for custom cakes celebrating any occasion.

The décor of the new location was designed by local artist LeslieAnn Farrell whose whimsical and colorful creations adorn the walls and counter of the boutique bakery. Now using organic cage-free eggs and small batch organic vanilla, The Cupcakery is ahead of the curve in working towards all organic product use and Owner Pamela Jenkins is working on a specialty coffee program set to launch in early 2016.

“I opened the first Cupcakery nine years ago and over the years our clients have become like family – we literally see their kids grow up and that has been the coolest part of having a striving, neighborhood-based business.” said Jenkins. “That we can expand the bakery, as well as our offerings, is an incredible feeling and I am so grateful for all those cupcake loving folks out there!”

Baked fresh daily, The Cupcakery uses only the finest ingredients for quality you can taste. The Cupcakery features a signature lineup of 12 to 20 distinctive flavors daily as well as seasonal specials. Breakout Star Of "Orange Is The New Black" Ruby Rose DJ's At Temple Nightclub

The new breakout star of Netflix’s “Orange is the New Black," Ruby Rose, brought down the house last night with a live performance from the DJ booth at Temple Nightclub, located in the heart of the SoMa District in San Francisco.

A raucous crowd lined the streets for hours for the chance to see the star in action. Throughout her set, several fans enthusiastically removed their shirts for the chance to catch Rose's attention, who also received several pairs of panties thrown into the DJ booth.

Arriving shortly after midnight, Rose began the evening with a meet and greet with two lucky fans, posing for photos and signing autographs. Sticking to her androgynous style, Rose sported a simple look with a black t-shirt and athletic shoes, complementing her colorful tattoos. Before the highly anticipated set, the crowd chanted her name until she appeared.

Rose, who describes her musical influences to be Felix da Housecat, Erick Morillo and DJ Snake, got the crowd energized with a variety of bass thumping mixes - ranging from Jefferson Airplane's "Do You Want Somebody To Love" to Zedd's "We're Beautiful Now" to Galantis' "Peanut Butter Jelly" and many more.

The beauty ended her set by jumping on top of the DJ booth and gracing the crowd with her dance moves, followed by her taking out her cell phone to take a selfie with the crowd.

Still Time To Beat The Heat At Titanic/Bodies Student Special Pricing On Tix

Sizzling summer temperatures are in full force, but students and parents can beat the heat and expand their minds at BODIES…The Exhibition and Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition. At Luxor Hotel and Casino, all ages can get out of the sun and experience two of the most intriguing and educational attractions Las Vegas has to offer without stepping foot on the casino floor. Not only can students continue to learn this summer at the air conditioned Exhibitions, but they will also receive 15 percent off of their admission (offer valid through Aug. 31; guests must present coupon, which can be downloaded here).

Cooler than any textbook, BODIES…The Exhibition showcases real human bodies and organs in a way that brings anatomy class to life. Discover the inner workings of the human body by exploring the skeletal, muscular, respiratory and circulatory systems with authentic, three-dimensional specimens. At the Exhibition, children will learn that their bones grow faster in the springtime and that there is 100,000 miles of blood vessels in the human body. In an effort to create an impactful understanding for teenagers, the Exhibition offers an experience that no textbook can present by giving an up close and personal look at how bad habits, such as smoking, can impact the body.

Students and parents have the opportunity to make history class appear before them at Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition. Experience what life was like in 1912 and learn about the history as well as the personal stories of passengers who boarded the “Ship of Dreams.” Guests can admire the largest piece of The Ship ever recovered, glance inside the third and first-class cabins and take a family photo on the Grand Staircase. Inside this one-of-a-kind recreation of history, students can feel a model of an iceberg and test their ability to withstand the frigid temperatures passengers endured that fateful night.

Tickets to BODIES…The Exhibition and Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition are available at the Luxor box office. Regularly priced tickets are $32 for adults, $30 for seniors and $24 for children 4 – 12 years of age. The Exhibition is open daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. with last admission at 9 p.m. It is recommended that children 12 and under are accompanied by a teacher or parent as an adult guide. For additional information or to reserve tickets by phone, call 800-557-7428 or 702-262-4400.

Top Chef Alumni Dinner Took Place At Border Grill With GREAT Results

Fos 5's Rachel Smith, Rick Moonen, Susan Feniger, Mary Sue Milliken and Hush Acheon

Border Grill chefs/owners Mary Sue Milliken and Susan Feniger hosted some of their fellow Top Chef Masters alumni for a one-night-only Top Chef Masters Reunion Dinner on Wednesday, Aug. 19 at Border Grill in Mandalay Bay. Guest chefs included Hugh Acheson (5&10, The National, Empire State South and The Florence) and Rick Moonen (rm seafood and Rx Boiler Room). Attendees experienced cocktails created by The Modern Mixologist Tony Abou-Ganim, an intimate dine-around with multiple food stations, and a panel discussion guided by Rachel Smith of the MORE show on FOX.

“We all developed close friendships because of Top Chef Masters, but it's hard to get us in the same room now, so this reunion dinner was a treat for us to host at Border Grill," said Feniger. "We loved getting a chance to create a special menu for all of the guests, and the panel discussion was a riot! We all probably said a little too much about what happened behind-the-scenes, but that's what happens after you've had a great meal and you're a couple drinks into the night!"

Charred New York Strip

Feniger's station included Warm Panela Cheese with hoja santa, roasted chile salsa and extra virgin olive oil as well as a massive Paella Valencia with chorizo, chicken, shrimp, clams, mussels and chorizo aioli. At Acheson's booth, guests savored a delicious Charred New York Strip Steak which came with fermented hot sauce, crisp peas, marinated peas and a mint salsa verde. Milliken had mouths watering with her Vegetable Veracruzano Ceviche made with favas, tomato, peas, olives and extra virgin olive oil, plus Lamb Adobo Tacos made from a whole lamb roast and served with hibiscus flowers and sheep's milk cheese. Attendees who visited Moonen's station received a hearty New England Steamed Dinner complete with pacific rockfish, bacon, turnips, potatoes and horseradish cream.

Additionally, all guests enjoyed passed appetizers including: Chicken Fried Caviar with fried chicken bites, passmore ranch caviar and mezcal crema; Veggie Gorditas with avocado, pickled turnips, cabbage and queso fresco; Ropa Vieja Sliders featuring braised short rib, sofrito and mojo aioli; and Crab Ceviche highlighted with pieces of grapefruit, pink peppercorn and popcorn shoots. A dessert station with assorted cheesecake bites, brownies, paletas, churro tots and sugar cookies finished off the meal.

The four Top Chef Masters alumni prepared a special menu for the 100+ guests who attended the intimate Top Chef Masters Reunion Dinner.

Abou-Ganim kept everyone hydrated with two specialty cocktails. His Cucumber Cooler was a refreshing crowd-pleaser with Don Julio silver tequila, St. Germain elderflower, fresh cucumber, celery & lemon juices, plus agave syrup and mint. Contrasting that was the sweet and well-layered Apple Cart cocktail, with Don Julio añejo tequila, Canton ginger liqueur, fresh fuji apple and lemon juices, agave nectar topped with a homemade apple ginger foam. The unique wine, beer and spirits were donated by Las Vegas premier distributor Southern Wine & Spirits.

The Modern Mixologist Tony Abou-Ganim made cocktails all night long for the crowd.
After the cocktail reception and dine-around event, guests spent more than an hour hearing from the chefs as moderator Rachel Smith dove into some juicy questions. From behind-the-scenes drama to on-screen frustrations and everything in between, the chefs spoke candidly as they conversed with Smith and took numerous questions from the audience. The crowd was excited to hear about what it was like filming Top Chef Masters, seeing who the chefs buddied up with and who they still talk to, what they think of the judges, how they would take over an episode of Top Chef Masters and much more. The inside peek was a rare opportunity to see what life behind the camera is like for these four top-tier chefs.

After the panel discussion, fans stayed nearby to take photos with each of the chefs. All attendees received a free copy of Acheson's newest cookbook, The Broad Fork, and the other chefs had their own books available for purchase as well. Every guest was able to speak with the chefs one-on-one, take selfies and receive personalized notes in the cookbooks.

A portion of the proceeds from the event are being donated to the Monterey Bay Aquarium's Seafood Watch, a program that helps consumers and businesses make choices for healthy oceans.

Hugh Acheson is the author of the James Beard Foundation Award Winning Cookbook A NEW TURN IN THE SOUTH: Southern Flavors Reinvented for Your Kitchen, Pick a Pickle: 50 Recipes for Pickles, Relishes, and Fermented Snacks, and THE BROAD FORK: Recipes for the Wide World of Vegetables and Fruits.
