For the seventh consecutive year, South Point Arena and Equestrian Center will host the High Roller Reining Classic, Sept. 13 – 20. For the first time ever, the event will include a West Coast Breeders Select Sale (WCBSS) offering the equestrian industry’s top breeders to the opportunity to display the best-of-the-best yearlings during an elite public auction on Saturday, Sept. 20.

The High Roller Reining Classic, dubbed the international "crown jewel" of western riding competitions, attracts thousands of western riders, breeders and owners from around the world looking to take home a portion of a $500,000 prize pool. Capping off the event, the WCBSS will offer elite, pre-screened,  performance-bred yearlings for sale at public auction.

“Over the years, the reining industry has seen significant growth in its competitive nature, both in riders and the level of breeds,” said Amanda Brumley founder of the WCBSS and producer of the High Roller Reining Classic. “With the addition of the WCBSS  to the event schedule, the National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) further solidifies the event’s position as the world’s most prestigious western riding competition in the industry.”

WCBSS consignments are evaluated by a panel of experts for selection into the sale based on breeding, confirmation and genetic performance history. Then the yearling’s radiographs are examined by top performance horse veterinarians, Dr. John Newcom and Dr. Russ Peterson. The evaluations provide buyers with pertinent details needed to make a sophisticated purchase such as x-rays, health standing and genetic blood testing. The introductory consignment fee is $500.

Celebrity blogger and entertainment personality, Perez Hilton, dined at Chef Kerry Simon’s Carson Kitchen in Downtown Las Vegas Wednesday night.

Hilton and a colleague enjoyed an array of Carson Kitchen’s signature menu items, including the ‘Devil’s Eggs,’ veal meatballs, wellington empanadas, short rib sliders, rainbow cauliflower, chicken thighs and the fan-favorite mac’ and cheese. The group sipped on the Brewer’s Fix and Easy Does It cocktails, and Hilton was heard commenting that “everything was phenomenal.”

DayDream Pool Club will go out with a bang, celebrating its Last Hurrah Weekend Sept. 27 and 28.

Leading up the final shebang, DayDream will host its third annual Beer Pong Championship, sponsored by Pabst Blue Ribbon (PBR), on Saturday, Sept. 13. DJ Sandman will heat up the turntables while teams of two go head-to-head for their chance to win the coveted grand prize – matching PBR robes and a championship belt. The first 16 teams to purchase a bucket of PBR, specially priced at $25, will have the option to enter the contest, which kicks off at 2 p.m.

On Saturday, Sept. 27, guests will enjoy the final Saturday pool party of the season with beats by DJ Sandman. On Sunday, Sept. 28 guests will celebrate the final splash with party mixes by DJ Nice and $5-off cocktail pitchers. DayDream is open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Fountain Donations At Miracle Mile To Benefit Goody Two Shoes Foundation!

As part of its Caring, Giving, Changing community campaign, Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino will collect donations in its fountain throughout September for Goodie Two Shoes Foundation (GTSF), a local nonprofit that provides disadvantaged children and children in crisis with new shoes and socks, as well as other items deemed essential for good health and positive development.

Through Sept. 30, all change tossed in Miracle Mile Shops’ fountain as well as the indoor rainstorm will benefit GTSF, which aims to reach 10,000 school-age children in need during each school year. Since 2003, GTSF has outfitted more than 50,000 Southern Nevada children with new shoes and socks.

Miracle Mile Shops’ partnership with GTSF is part of its Caring, Giving, Changing campaign, which raises funds for nonprofit programs and organizations through community sponsorships, additional partnerships and a number of cash and in-kind donations.

About the Goodie Two Shoes Foundation:

The Goodie Two Shoes Foundation provides disadvantaged children and children in crisis with new shoes and socks, as well as other items deemed essential for good health and positive development. Goodie Two Shoes programming is based on the premise that they don't just provide a child with a new pair of shoes but rather empower participants with choice, by giving them the opportunity to select any pair of high-quality athletic shoes they want from GTSF's traveling 48' mobile shoe-store-on-wheels, which visits them on-site at their school or referring agency.
