FIRST Food & Bar holds “Sammy D’s First College Fund Happy Hour” in honor of Presidential visit

FIRST Food & Bar is the place to be when you want to have a good time and not blow your children’s college funds. In honor of this Friday’s Presidential visit, FIRST invites the city out for “Sammy D’s First College Fund Happy Hour.” A portion of the night’s proceeds will be donated to a local culinary charity.

Happy Hour will include specials on drinks including the O’bama Slammer – a drink Chef Sam DeMarco created tongue-in-cheek in response to the President’s comments which appear to “slam” our city – it’s the chef’s way of giving Las Vegas a voice. (Attached is a photo of the O’bama Slammer, hi-res version available on request.)

Other specials including happy hour pricing on favorites like the FIRST Original Mini Burgers, Lollipop Wings and Philly Cheesesteak Dumplings as well as the addition of Dorm Room Mac ‘n Cheese and Jell-o shots, which no college fund happy hour is complete without.

Celebrities flocked to the hottest sweet spot in town as Sugar Factory opened the doors to its second Las Vegas location inside the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino on Sunday, Feb. 14. Mel B, Kendra Wilkinson, Hank Baskett, Holly Madison and " Jersey Shore " sensation "The Situation" all celebrated the Sugar Factory grand opening and picked up some Valentine's Day treats.

" Jersey Shore " star Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino greeted hundreds of awaiting fans, some who waited in line for more than six hours, as he held a 90-minute autograph signing session at Sugar Factory. Sorrentino served up Valentine's Day lollipops to his fans, as well as members of the media, and un-buttoned his shirt to give the massive crowd a glimpse at his six-pack abs. Spending his first Valentine's Day in the public eye solo, Sorrentino told reporters, "there are a lot of ladies out there, but it's hard to find that special someone." "My glass is always half-full," Sorrentino continues, "I just haven't found that right one yet."

"Peepshow" star Holly Madison spent her Valentine's Day at Sugar Factory as the blonde bombshell recently returned to Las Vegas after a brief trip to Mexico . Madison gushed about her favorite Sugar Factory treats: the candy necklaces, signature Couture Pops and giant Whirly Pops.

NASCAR Legend Ned Jarrett will be at LVMS this week-end!

NASCAR stock car racing legend and broadcaster Ned Jarrett will join fellow golden-era superstar Junior Johnson to greet fans in the Neon Garage during the Feb. 26-28 NASCAR Weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Both Jarrett and Johnson will be accompanied by one of their restored race cars in the Neon Garage. Jarrett will be reunited with his familiar blue No. 11 Ford, while Johnson will sit next to his No. 3 Holly Farms Chevrolet. Jarrett competed at the sport’s highest level – the Grand National division, now known as the Sprint Cup Series – from 1960-1965. In 353 starts, he won 50 races and two championships (1961 and 1965). Jarrett also won NASCAR Sportsman division titles in 1957 and 1958. The father of 1999 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Dale Jarrett was named one of NASCAR’s Greatest Drivers in 1998 (NASCAR’s 50th anniversary year). He retired from racing at the relatively-young age of 34 in 1966. After retiring from racing, the Newton, N.C., native promoted Hickory Motor Speedway near Statesville, N.C. (he won Hickory’s 1955 track championship), worked in real estate and later joined the Motor Racing Network (MRN) radio team in 1978. Most present-day fans remember Ned from the NASCAR broadcast teams of CBS and ESPN. LVMS is beginning what it hopes to be an annual tradition by inviting legendary NASCAR drivers to take part in the racing activities at the speedway. Neon Garage tickets are available by calling the LVMS ticket office at (800) 644-4444 or online at www.lvms.com. Tickets for the Feb. 28 Shelby American NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race and the Feb. 27 Sam’s Town 300 also are available.

Donny Clay, Donny Clay!! This show is awesome!

Donny Clay starring Jason Alexander has to be one of the most refreshing and funniest shows that I have seen in a while! Seeing Jason up there one begins thinking of George Constanza but as the show continues you see less of George and more of Donny! His humorous takes on relationships and how to train your mate are funny and most likely would work...hint think water bottle! And then there is the humm errrr Donny Clay nude! The audience was laughing and enjoying themselves and as we were walking out only good comments about the show is what I overheard - funny, hilarious, a great show. And thank you Donny I now know how to lose the extra weight!! Eat anything and everything just watch the string! Seriously though Jason is a well rounded entertainer and delivers a five star show with enough punch that keeps you entertained! Go see this show...you will be entertained and you will love the montage clips!!

Alexander performs his limited engagement for a series of dates through March 2010: February 11-14, February 25-28, March 4-7 and March 11-14

Light Shed on Yough Aging out of Children's welfare system! Great Cause!

Live Exhibit at Two Prominent Las Vegas Destinations

Sheds Light on Youth Aging Out of the Child Welfare System

Saturday, February 13, nearly 350 people came together at Fashion Show Las Vegas and in front of the iconic Fountains of Bellagio to be a part of the first live exhibit developed to bring attention to the challenges youth face as they transition out of the Child Welfare System and are thrust in to the fast-paced world as adults.

Representing the 350 youth who annually age out of the system, the live exhibit participants gathered first at Fashion Show Las Vegas. One-by-one, each individual slowly came together on the Fashion Show Runway revealing t-shirts prominently displaying the statement “ONE can make a difference”—a mantra the group shouted in unison, followed by spontaneous freestyle dancing. A second installation of the live exhibit was taken to the streets in front of the Fountains of Bellagio, where the participants gathered, cheered and danced again to bring attention to an issue that affects many local youth.

"I am overjoyed by the amount of support we received for this event and honored that so many people took time out of their weekend to be a part of our first live awareness exhibit,” said Kari Tillman, executive director of Project Sunshine of Nevada, organizers of the event. “Youth aging out of the system and the alarming statistics associated with them is a topic that is hard to swallow. It is necessary for us to continue to develop inspiring and unique opportunities like this live exhibit, to encourage people to become involved and to be a part of the solution.”

In addition to creating public awareness, the live exhibit will assist with raising money to help fund the 2010 Project Elevate programs. Project Elevate’s mission is to prepare as many at-risk youths as possible, arming them with “essential readiness skills” meant to inform, educate, boost self-esteem and arm these youths with knowledge necessary to live independently.

Many of the live exhibit participants were associated with the HandsOn Network, a national volunteer organization. Companies and organizations that made the live exhibit possible were Accent Promo & Media, Clark County Department of Family Services (Independent Living), Fashion Show Las Vegas, KLAS-TV, Marquis & Aurbach, Mission Industries and Pearvue Productions.
