Current Las Vegas headliner and GRAMMY Award winner himself, Carlos Santana will be a presenter at the 52nd Annual GRAMMY Awards on Sunday, Jan. 31. Carlos currently headlines in Supernatural Santana: A Trip Through the Hits inside The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, which starts its next run of shows Feb. 3. The GRAMMY’s will take place live at STAPLES Center in Los Angeles and will be broadcast on the CBS Television Network from 8 – 11:30 p.m. (ET/PT).

Canal Street at The Orleans Hotel and Casino Introduces New Menu Traditional Fare Along With Guest Favorites Part of Dinner Selections Canal Street restaurant, located inside The Orleans Hotel and Casino, recently launched a new menu, created by Rene Werner and Chef Philip Bonanno. The Orleans’ director of food and beverage and executive chef, respectively. The menu combines guest favorites along with adding fresh twists on familiar recipes. According to Werner, who refreshes the Canal Street menu approximately every 18 months, variety in entrée selection using fresh ingredients is only part of the menu revision puzzle. An assortment of hot soups, fresh salads and delicious sides rounds out the dinner menu. Specialty items include Four Onion Soup, Lobster Bisque, Bayou Crawfish and Citrus Salad, Blue Cheese Scalloped Potatoes and Four Cheese Lobster Mac and Cheese. Open audition to determine national anthem singer for Sam’s Town 300

One aspiring singer will get the opportunity of a lifetime before the start of the Sam’s Town 300 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Sam’s Town Hotel and Gambling Hall, the race sponsor, along with FOX 5 TV, are staging an open audition called Speedway Superstar to find a singer to perform the national anthem prior to the Feb. 27 NASCAR Nationwide Series event at LVMS.

The first audition will be conducted Saturday, Jan. 30 at Sam’s Town on Boulder Highway. All performers must sing the national anthem a cappella. The top 25 singers chosen will advance to the next round of competition on Saturday, Feb. 13. On that day, the winner will be announced.

The Jan. 30 auditions will begin at 10 a.m. Registration will open at 9 a.m. Anyone wishing to audition must arrive at Sam’s Town before noon on Jan. 30. The first 150 applicants are guaranteed an audition. For more information on the competition, please contact

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Kyle Busch was in Las Vegas to promote the Feb. 26-28 NASCAR Weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Busch stopped at HobbyTown USA in Las Vegas -- a store he used to work at and race at -- to participate in a radio-controlled (a.k.a. "RC" car) race. Busch won the four-car, five-minute race by a lap over the second-place car.

One-Time Charity Event to Benefit Opportunity Village

Former Las Vegas mobster and hit man Frank Cullotta will present the Mob Chronicles in the Stratosphere Theater of the Stars on Thursday, February 18th at 7:30 p.m. This one-time charity event will benefit Opportunity Village. After eight years of prison and 20 years of witness protection, Cullotta is going public with his speaking tour, Mob Chronicles, about the history of organized crime and his unique insights into the mob life. Joining him will be various members of law enforcement who worked for years in attempts to indict Cullotta. During the show, audience members will have the opportunity to interact with Cullotta as well as former Las Vegas Metro detectives and FBI agents that investigated the actual crimes. Cullotta served as a key player in Tony Spilotro’s infamous Hole in the Wall Gang that ruled the Las Vegas underworld in the 1960s and ‘70s. While Cullotta admits to two mob hits, he is rumored to be responsible for many more, including the “M&M Murders” in 1962. After his arrest on burglary charges in 1981 and fearing for his own life, he turned government witness and testified before the President’s Commission on Organized Crime, resulting in the convictions of several of his former associates. The mob attempted to post Cullotta’s bail so they could carry out his hit, but police revoked the bail to protect him. In the Martin Scorsese film Casino, loosely based on characters like Spilotro’s gang, Cullotta served as technical advisor and played a small role as one of the henchmen.
