OMG! The Boozy Pink Brunch Starts This Week-End At La Mona Rosa!

 

La Mona Rosa, Spanish for “the pink monkey,” will invite locals and pink-lovers alike to see breakfast through rose-colored glasses with the introduction of its boozy Pink Brunch. Each Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Corner Bar Management will color outside the lines with an array of rose-hued drinks, dishes and décor at its new Tulum-inspired hideaway, located at 100 S. Sixth St., beginning Saturday, March 11. 

Starting with sips, La Mona Rosa will offer a vibrant menu with five featured cocktails – each its own shade of pink – available exclusively during the themed brunch. The new libations will include: Rosarita, fashioned with prickly pear and mandarin tequila, lime and agave; Rosa 75, made with tequila, pomegranate, lemon and sparkling wine; Rosa Spritz, a blend of Aperol, watermelon and sparkling wine; Pink Monkey, a hand-crafted mixture of gin, mezcal, prickly pear, hibiscus, strawberry and egg whites; and, for coconut lovers, BJ in TJ will be a shooter of tequila, horchata, strawberry and coconut. Select cervezas will also be offered, alongside bottles of Calirosa, which will be specially priced at $150 for the brunch and include a pink bouquet for guests to take home.

 

Signature brunch items will include the Pinole Pancakes, a stack of jacks made with the ancient Mexican superfood, pinole, and topped with fresh strawberries, piloncillo syrup and tres leches espuma; Papas con Chorizo, made with pork chorizo and served with fingerling potatoes, sunny side eggs, pinto refried beans and salsa molcajete; and Enchiladas Suizas, corn tortillas filled with succulent chicken and topped with creamy tomatillo sauce, lettuce, jocoque and pickled onion; among other dishes reflecting Executive Chefs Isidro Marquez-Castillo’s and Daniel Arias’ travels throughout central Mexico and cherished family recipes.

 

To end on a sweet note, La Mona Rosa will feature a dessert available exclusively for Pink Brunch: the Rosa Dulce. A light finisher, the Rosa Dulce features strawberry jelly and rose sorbet with grapefruit air and mint merengue.

 

Guests of Pink Brunch are encouraged to dress up in theme and will receive complimentary pink heart-shaped sunglasses, as well as handheld paper fans to keep them cool while enjoying high-energy Latin house tracks.

Spring Break Is Coming! What's Going On At Meow Wolf's Omega Mart!

 Meow Wolf’s immersive art exhibition, Omega Mart, knows that shoppers come in all ages. The mind-bending grocery shopping and art-filled multiverse has a little something for everyone this Spring Break.

Smack dab in the middle of spring break on Thursday, March 16th, is the chance for grown-ups to expand their minds and explore during the popular 21-and-over Night Shift.  Omega Mart invites the properly-aged to shop and sip and pop through the portals to worlds that’ll fill their imagination - all in the grown-up dimension. If they locate the hidden speakeasy, Datamosh, they might wish to savor a smokey Source or grab a sip at several remote cocktail spots, while gaming to their heart’s content with their “Boop” card, all without youngsters. Shoppers must be 21 and older. IDs will be checked at the door. Canmels and Happles are, of course, welcome without ID. Night Shift starts at 8:00 p.m. (and if you can’t make this one, there’s another March 30th).

Eager readers will gather at “The Wall,” AREA15's new event space, to hear the original books read by their authors and participate in activities including a book signing, coloring pages and fun photo opportunities.

The Source Cannabis Company Raises Money for Local Las Vegas Charities

The Source, an award-winning cannabis company with five dispensaries across Nevada, has announced the University Medical Center of Southern Nevada Foundation (UMC Foundation) as its roundup partner for the month of March.

Jimmy Kimmel's Comedy Club Welcomes Comedian Luenell As Newest Performer!

Luenell, the American stand-up comedian and actress best known for her roles in “Borat,” “A Star Is Born,” “That’s My Boy,” “Hotel Transylvania” and more, will be adding a new weekly performance at Jimmy Kimmel’s Comedy Club beginning on Monday, March 6. Due to her growing popularity in Las Vegas, the comedian will soon perform on Mondays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 9:30 p.m.

“Luenell is one of comedy’s most talented stars,” said Damian Costa, Pompey Entertainment. “We knew it was only a matter of time before audiences would want to see her perform more and more on the Las Vegas Strip. We’re excited to see her continue to make people laugh until their stomachs hurt.”

The 31st Annual LVMPD K-9 Trials Are Coming Up!

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) Foundation and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department K-9 Section will host the 31st Annual LVMPD K-9 Trials on March 19, 2023 at South Point Arena, 9777 S. Las Vegas Blvd.  Doors open at 8:00 AM. 

More than 50 K-9 teams will join the LVMPD K-9 Section in competitions for Narcotics, Bombs, Area Search, Building Search, Obedience, Agility, and Handler Protection. German Shepherds, Dutch Shepherds, Belgian Malinois', Labradors, and English Springer Spaniels will compete in the seven different categories. The top three finishers will receive Tough Dog, Top Dog, and Top Agency awards. Teams include police K-9 units and hotel security teams and are judged on many facets of their performance including handler tactics.

"K-9 teams from a wide variety of agencies, both public and military, will showcase their talent and highly trained skills,” says Lt. Jeff Clark of the LVMPD K-9 Section. Lt. Clark will serve as show emcee along with Beth Fisher, who handles Community Relations for the LVMPD Public Information Office. In addition to all the skilled K-9 competitions, SWAT will kick it up a notch with a demonstration during half-time. 

 

LVMPD will celebrate its 50th Anniversary in 2023 and has one of the oldest, continuously operating K-9 units in the United States comprised of 14 officers, three sergeants, one lieutenant and 17 patrol dogs, five narcotic detector dogs, and five explosive detector dogs.  Five patrol dogs are also certified as human remains detectors. 

 

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Foundation is producer of the event.  Emmy Award-winning actors, Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul, who starred in the critically acclaimed AMC series “Breaking Bad,” surprised fans at CliQue Bar & Lounge, the upscale cocktail lounge inside The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas on Thursday, Mar. 2.    

Cranston and Paul arrived at the lounge with their beverage manager and another friend shortly after 10 p.m. In town to promote their Dos Hombres Mezcal, which they ordered from the bar, the pair was dressed casually and took time to speak with the lounge’s staff. MVP Bryce Harper Named As Grand Marshal For NASCAR Penzoil 400

 Las Vegas native and two-time National League Most Valuable Player Bryce Harper has been named grand marshal for Sunday’s Pennzoil 400 Presented by Jiffy Lube at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. 

The 12-year veteran outfielder for the Philadelphia Phillies, a Las Vegas High School graduate, will deliver the command to start engines for the 26th annual NASCAR Cup Series event at LVMS.

 

“I've been a fan of NASCAR for quite some time now, so being asked to give the command, especially at my hometown track, just checks off another box on my to-do list as a fan,” Harper said. “I’m looking forward to being a part of this awesome event.”

 

Harper joins a list of luminaries to deliver the command at LVMS, including Carroll Shelby, Mark Wahlberg, Tim Allen, Marcus Allen, Cole Hauser, Derek Carr, Kim Kardashian, Rascal Flatts, Brent Musburger and Dana White.

Can You Handle The Heat? Wings of Fire Challenge Every Wednesday At Tailgate Social!

Tailgate Social Sports Bar & Grill, located at Palace Station Hotel and Casino, now has Wing Wednesdays, offering all-you-can-eat-and-drink wings and domestic beer. Plus, Tailgate will launch a hot wing challenge, the “Wings of Fire Challenge,” all taking place every Wednesday.
