La Mona Rosa, Spanish for “the pink monkey,” will invite locals and pink-lovers alike to see breakfast through rose-colored glasses with the introduction of its boozy Pink Brunch. Each Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Corner Bar Management will color outside the lines with an array of rose-hued drinks, dishes and décor at its new Tulum-inspired hideaway, located at 100 S. Sixth St., beginning Saturday, March 11.
Starting with sips, La Mona Rosa will offer a vibrant menu with five featured cocktails – each its own shade of pink – available exclusively during the themed brunch. The new libations will include: Rosarita, fashioned with prickly pear and mandarin tequila, lime and agave; Rosa 75, made with tequila, pomegranate, lemon and sparkling wine; Rosa Spritz, a blend of Aperol, watermelon and sparkling wine; Pink Monkey, a hand-crafted mixture of gin, mezcal, prickly pear, hibiscus, strawberry and egg whites; and, for coconut lovers, BJ in TJ will be a shooter of tequila, horchata, strawberry and coconut. Select cervezas will also be offered, alongside bottles of Calirosa, which will be specially priced at $150 for the brunch and include a pink bouquet for guests to take home.
Signature brunch items will include the Pinole Pancakes, a stack of jacks made with the ancient Mexican superfood, pinole, and topped with fresh strawberries, piloncillo syrup and tres leches espuma; Papas con Chorizo, made with pork chorizo and served with fingerling potatoes, sunny side eggs, pinto refried beans and salsa molcajete; and Enchiladas Suizas, corn tortillas filled with succulent chicken and topped with creamy tomatillo sauce, lettuce, jocoque and pickled onion; among other dishes reflecting Executive Chefs Isidro Marquez-Castillo’s and Daniel Arias’ travels throughout central Mexico and cherished family recipes.
To end on a sweet note, La Mona Rosa will feature a dessert available exclusively for Pink Brunch: the Rosa Dulce. A light finisher, the Rosa Dulce features strawberry jelly and rose sorbet with grapefruit air and mint merengue.
Guests of Pink Brunch are encouraged to dress up in theme and will receive complimentary pink heart-shaped sunglasses, as well as handheld paper fans to keep them cool while enjoying high-energy Latin house tracks.
