Kris Kristofferson & John Prine In Concert At The Pearl On 10/30! Get Your Tix
Palms Casino Resort announces a night of amazing folk music with legendary artists Kris Kristofferson and John Prine in a special co-headlining performance in the intimate venue The Pearl inside Palms Casino Resort on October 30, 2015 at 8 p.m. Tickets start at $49, plus any additional service fees.
Three time GRAMMY winner, singer-songwriter Kris Kristofferson has captivated audiences since 1970, being a key figure in the New Nashville country movement of the early ’70s. Kristofferson continues to tour and release albums, including 2014’s An Evening with Kris Kristofferson: The Pilgrim; CH 77, an intimate 2013 live set recoded at London’s historic Union Chapel. Performing classic such as “Me & Bobby McGee,” “Sunday Morning Coming Down” and “Silver-Tongued Devil,” the album features the country legend stripped down with just his guitar and a few harmonicas. The live album followed the release of 2013’s Feeling Mortal, which featured new material in the third Don Was-produced album in a “twilight years” trilogy which also included 2009’s Closer To The Bone and 2006’s This Old Road.
Heralded as an artist’s artist, Kris Kristofferson has recorded 27 albums, including three with pals Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings as part of The Highwaymen. Kristofferson has spent more than four decades performing concerts all over the world, in most recent years in a solo acoustic setting, which puts the focus on the songs. Through all the years and hard work, Kristofferson is happy to be happy, grateful to be grateful and wholly unwilling to take the credit for the wondrous way it’s all worked out.
Some four decades since his remarkable debut, GRAMMY-award winning songwriter John Prine has stayed at the top of his game, both as a performer and songwriter. In recent years, he was honored at the Library of Congress by US Poet Laureate Ted Kooser, elevating Prine from the annals of songwriters into the realm of bonafide American treasures.
Long considered a “songwriter’s songwriter,” Prine is a rare talent who writes the songs other songwriters would sell their souls for. Evidence of this is the long list of songwriters who have recorded gems from his extensive catalog, including Johnny Cash, Bonnie Raitt, the Everly Brothers, John Denver, Kris Kristofferson, Carly Simon, Ben Harper, Joan Baez and many others. Some of his best known songs include “Hello In There,” “Sam Stone,” “Angel From Montgomery,” “Souvenirs,” “Paradise” and “You Never Even Called Me By My Name.”
The Singing Mailman Delivers, a two-disc archival set featuring his earliest studio and live recordings dating back to 1970, one year before his self-titled debut, was released in 2011. With his trademark guitar finger-picking and unmistakable songwriting voice, Prine continues to mesmerize diverse audiences with his humble poetry, describing often-overlooked crannies of everyday life.
Doors at The Pearl will open at 7 p.m. and show time is 8 p.m. The Pearl Box Office is open daily from noon until 7 p.m. with extended hours on select event days. Follow The Pearl on Twitter at @PearlatPalms or on Facebook for concert announcements, event information and exclusive venue presale information.
