"Pigs For Kids" Charity BBQ Coming Up On 9/19

Pigs for the Kids will bring mouthwatering barbecue competition, music, ice cold beer and more to Craig Ranch Regional Park—all in the name of supporting childhood cancer charities. The inaugural Pigs for the Kids Barbecue Cook-Off and Festival will benefit Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation, Cure 4 The Kids Foundation and the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation.

Like no other barbecue competition in Las Vegas, Pigs for the Kids will offer everyone—from backyard grill masters to professional chefs and restaurateurs—a chance to show their barbecue brilliance in a variety of categories. Teams will compete to take home the inaugural Pigs for the Kids Barbecue Cook-Off trophy; prizes will be offered in four categories: ribs, pork shoulder, sauce and beans. All styles of barbecue are sure to be represented and attendees can purchase a V.I.Pig Pass, allowing them to sample all the regional variations of great, all-American barbecue in the competition.

Inspired by founder Todd Radwanski’s daughter, Adilyn, who was diagnosed with a rare eye cancer at 8 months old, Pigs for the Kids was envisioned as a fun-filled community event to support organizations such as those that helped the Radwanski family during Adilyn’s illness. Now a vivacious, athletic 11-year-old girl, Adilyn served as ambassador for the Candlelighters’ 5K, serves as a peer mentor at her school and continues to serve as inspiration for everyone around her. It was Adilyn who suggested “Pigs for the Kids” as the name for this event and is delighted to be part of something helping other kids affected by cancer.

In addition, Pigs for the Kids’ 30 competing barbecue teams will be judged by 20 Kansas City Barbecue Society-certified judges and 10 celebrity judges, including performers Clint Holmes, Earl Turner local newscasters and performers from the show “Rock of Ages.”

Hot, Dry & Inked Exhibit Opening Up At The Springs Preserve

Modern Western tattoo art was influenced by the imagery and culture of life at sea; but what happens when tattooers live amidst the rugged flora and fauna of the driest desert in North America? Hot, Dry & Inked is an exhibit of tattoo art and objects, created by Las Vegas tattooers exploring how the Mojave Desert influences their art on living and non-living canvases alike.

Located in the Big Springs Gallery inside the Origen Museum, the exhibit will be open daily during regular business hours through January 10, 2016.  This exhibit is free for members or with paid general admission.

Las Vegas chef Roy Ellamar will debut a farm-to-table restaurant, Harvest by Roy Ellamar, at Bellagio Resort & Casino in December 2015. Delivering an innovative, market-driven concept at the AAA Five Diamond resort in the heart of the Las Vegas Strip, Harvest will feature regional American dishes that include sustainable and locally grown products.

Chef Roy’s culinary philosophy was cultivated as a child in Hilo, Hawaii, where he was surrounded by farmers, foragers and fishermen, gaining a true appreciation for the provenance of ingredients and the relationship with the producers. Working at restaurants throughout Hawaii, Chicago, Beverly Hills – and as executive chef of Sensi in Bellagio – he has become a staunch advocate of local agriculture and sustainably produced proteins.

Saturday night Joe Manganiello hosted the grand opening of LAVO Casino Club at The Palazzo in Las Vegas.  The actor and a friend had dinner at the Italian restaurant, enjoying the famed one pound meatball, eggplant parmigiano, a filet and more, with strawberry shortcake for dessert.  Upstairs in the Casino Club he tried his hand at both blackjack and craps, where fans clamored to see the Magic Mike star as he gambled.

Also spotted at LAVO was Busta Rhymes, who had dinner at the restaurant before heading up to the Casino Club for a bit to play blackjack with Joe and then made his way to Marquee.  VINE social media star Christian Delgrosso dined at the Italian eatery as well.

At Marquee Puff Daddy hosted a post-fight party presented by Ciroc Ultra Premium Vodka and Deleon Tequila.  The rapper and producer entertained a packed club, surprising the crowd with a performance that included hits such as “It’s All About the Benjamins” and “Mo Money  Mo Problems” along with his new single “Finna Get Loose”.  Bow Wow joined Puff on stage and was dancing throughout the performance.  Busta Rhymes also jumped on stage, sharing with the crowd about their times in the studio together before they sang “Jump Jump” and “Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Can See.”  NBA star James Harden of the Houston Rockets was spotted taking in the party and stopped by Puff’s table to say hello.

Snoop Dogg returned to TAO for another edition of his Snoopadelic Cabaret, entertaining club goers with a performance of his hits and commanding the DJ booth at the 1920s themed party.

World Andalusian Cup W/Iberian Horse Show Coming To The Southpoint Arena

Andalusian World has announced the second annual Andalusian World Cup will be held September 24-26, 2015 at the South Point Arena and Equestrian Center in Las Vegas.

The Andalusian World Cup debuted last year and quickly became the most talked about Iberian horse show in decades, with hundreds of horses, riders, and exhibitors attending from across the country. The ground-breaking show format will again this year combine a variety of equestrian disciplines at one venue, and will be open to all horses with papers from any recognized Iberian Horse registry.

“The show was a resounding success last year, and we’re thrilled to announce this year’s show will be even bigger and better,” says Andalusian World co-founder Amber Lentz. “We have a few new additions this year. We’ve added a USEF/USDF/CDS-sanctioned dressage competition to the show schedule. And, we’re very excited about our expanded emphasis on youth participation, which includes the Vaughan Smith Memorial Youth Program. This scholarship program will award the winning youth free entries and stabling for the show, plus $1,000 for transport and other show expenses.”

The Vaughan Smith Memorial is presented in honor of the late Vaughan Smith, a long-time Iberian horseman and trainer, and friend of many in the Iberian horse world.

While there are several new things in store for the 2015 Andalusian World Cup, most of the events that made last year so popular are still in the schedule and the same format will be followed, according to Kevin Kidder, Andalusian World co-founder. “A full slate of halter and performance classes for Iberian horses will be offered again this year, including ANCCE morphology and functionality classes for ANCCE registered horses. And, back by popular demand, are cash awards for championship classes and lots of cool prizes,” says Kidder. “The Working Equitation competition, which is open to all breeds, is also on the schedule and will likely be even larger than last year. The relatively new discipline was an audience favorite in 2014 and a number of those spectators are already planning to participate.”

After the final blows between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Andre Berto had been thrown, GRAMMY-winning R&B artist, Jamie Foxx delivered an explosive performance at Hyde Bellagio.

The multifaceted entertainer took the stage and delivered a high-powered performance to the packed Vegas club, hyping up fans as he created an electrifying atmosphere with a remix of legendary tunes by artists including Michael Jackson, Prince and Jay-Z. Following his performance, Hyde’s sexy servers presented Foxx and his entourage with flashing lights and an illuminated cake to celebrate the birthday of a close family friend.

Later in the evening, DJ Skratchy took over the turn tables, and in a swirl of confetti, cocktails and club-goers, the party raged on into the early hours of the morning.

Poker Player/Playboy/Internet Sensation Dan Bilzerian Mingles In Vegas At 1 OAK

On Saturday, Sept. 12 professional poker player, actor and internet sensation Dan Bilzerian hosted an unforgettable affair at 1 OAK Nightclub inside the Mirage Hotel & Casino. After getting settled in his suite, the Instagram star headed down to the Las Vegas hot spot where he posed for a few photos on the red carpet while hundreds of fans chanted his name. Bilzerian was then escorted to a VIP table behind the DJ booth where he and his friends were greeted by a parade of cocktail waitresses showcasing a giant Dan head and a photo of his pet goat, Zeus. DJ E-Rock kept the party going all night with a slew of chart-topping hits and enough bass to last into the early morning. Bilzerian was seen in high spirits with his friends, laughing and joking around. He even got on the mic a few times to pump up the already excited crowd. The popular playboy mingled with friends and guests before leaving the nightspot around 2:00 a.m.

Derek Stevens, the CEO and Owner of Downtown Las Vegas Events Center, then took the stage to introduce Moore. "Flavors Of The Heart" Event To Benefit "Teens Cook With Heart" Coming Up!

Las Vegas catering company Cut and Taste has been named the official “Heart Chef” for the fifth annual “Flavors of the Heart” event on Saturday, September 19. Proceeds from the event will benefit the American Heart Association’s “Teens Cook with Heart” program, which educates local high school students about heart-healthy foods through hands-on cooking instruction.

In their role as Heart Chefs, Cut and Taste’s chef-partners – Alex Barnett, Jeremy Jordan and Adam Pusateri – will raise funds and awareness for Teens Cook with Heart throughout the school year.
