First Friday presents “Chance. Risk. Fortune” Takes Place 3/6 In Vegas

First Friday Las Vegas, one of the largest arts and culture festivals in the Western United States, celebrates in Downtown Las Vegas with “Chance. Risk. Fortune.” on Friday, March 6.

Perhaps no city on Earth relies more heavily on the belief in chance and luck than Las Vegas.  This March, First Friday celebrates how chance, luck and fortune – good or bad – impact our lives.  Whether it’s an opportunity missed, a risk taken or a chance encounter, a seemingly casual choice can change life in a heartbeat.  People believe in magic crystals, lucky rabbit’s feet, horseshoes, four leaf clovers, “find a penny, pick it up,” and even troll dolls can all bend fate to a desired outcome.  It’s with these ideas, First Friday presents “Chance. Risk. Fortune.”

First Friday-goers can leave their experience up to a roll of the dice.  In the Welcome Tent, specially made dice with directions for the evening will be available for guest to throw to ensure their experience is unique.  These dice could say “try a new food truck,” “say hello to a stranger,” “visit KidZone” or “Buy a piece of art for the living room,” it’s all left up to chance.  Attendees can also pay a visit to the “Chance Station,” where they can get individually-tailored advice from a myriad of fortune telling devices including a magic 8-ball or the flip of a coin.  Professional and amateur artists alike can take a risk to express themselves by painting for an upcoming installation entitled “Give Peace a Chance.”  This installation will consist of rocks painted by First Friday patrons and assembled by Las Vegas artist Ruzo Logic.  Logic will also host an interactive mosaic of expression as artists from the community, including those from the Paiute-Shoshone Tribe of the Fallon Reservation and Colony, working together on panels as part of the “Guerilla Kage” activations.

This March, both well-known and emerging artists will embrace the “Chance. Risk. Fortune.” theme in the ArtWalk, running down Casino Center from Colorado to Charleston. The Arts District also features a variety of arts and crafts vendors made popular in the Artisan Bazaar. Kids will be able to participate in a Cake Walk in KidZone, as well as build theme-inspired creations from Lug Vegas. Attendees can sample a variety of theme-inspired cuisine from the traditional food trucks on site. Food trucks participating in the theme for the evening will be identified by dice hanging on their menu boards.   The Dance DepARTment, sponsored by Epyk Entertainment, will feature a variety of DJs throughout the evening, while emerging musicians are featured at The Hub.

First Friday exists all over downtown Las Vegas, and there is a different feeling that pervades in the area during the event. This sense of wonder and creative energy has expanded to the Fremont East area both before and after each First Friday event with engaging arts, crafts, bands, and food and drink specials at Fremont East locations. First Friday - Fremont wants people in the community to experience the First Friday feeling of creativity and inspiration no matter where they are downtown, and to both start and end their night with a feeling that is memorable.

First Friday Las Vegas would like to thank event sponsors including the City of Las Vegas,  Tavorro, 7-Up and Epyk Entertainment.

Champion Boxer Floyd Mayweather Celebrates B-Day In Vegas

Undefeated professional boxer Floyd Mayweather celebrated his 38th birthday at Hyde Bellagio’s Lost Angels Industry Night in Las Vegas.

Mayweather was greeted by a group of friends including American professional basketball player, Metta World Peace, as he arrived at the fountain-side hotspot. The crowd was brought to a deafening roar as DJ Konflikt blasted the song “The Champ is Here” as the star made his way into the club.

Fans gathered around trying to snap photos of the world champion as the group was escorted to a VIP table located beneath the club’s DJ booth. Hyde’s sexy servers then greeted The Money Team with a parade of lights, carrying giant letters spelling out “M-O-N-E-Y.”

Staying in good shape for the highly anticipated fight against Manny Pacquiao on May 2 in Las Vegas, Mayweather didn’t drink any alcohol at the nightclub and instead sipped Coca-Cola throughout the evening. In honor of his birthday, Mayweather was presented with a decorative bottle of Martinelli's Apple Cider.

Surrounded by adoring fans, Mayweather basked in his birthday celebration while Hyde’s signature confetti showers blasted over the crowd. The boxer and his entourage continued partying into the early morning hours.
