Rocker Chrissie Hynde Rocks Out At The Pearl

Just before show time Friday night, The Platters’ hit song “The Great Pretender” played throughout The Pearl at Palms Casino Resort, a nod to Chrissie Hynde’s group The Pretenders that propelled to stardom in the late ’70s and early ’80s. Following the song, Hynde, one of the most amazing and distinctive female voices in rock, took the stage and played a night of live music mixing songs from The Pretenders including “Don’t Lose Faith In Me,” “Biker” and “977,” with solo favorites from her new album Stockholm including “A Plan Too Far” and “Like In The Movies.” Chrissie switched up throughout the night between rocking an acoustic guitar, electric guitar and even a tambourine, all backed by a four-piece band.

In addition to da Vinci’s role as an inventor, the exhibition investigates a collection of da Vinci’s most renowned paintings, including some controversial works traditionally attributed to him, but not yet authenticated. Guests will have the opportunity to thoroughly study the artistic mastery behind such works as “Mona Lisa,”“The Last Supper,”“Portrait of a Young Man,”“Virgin of the Rocks,”“St. John the Baptist” and more.

Throughout his lifelong devotion to the sciences and fascination with nature, da Vinci also extensively explored the world of anatomy. Matt Kazam has performed in many of America’s top comedy clubs, casinos and theaters. With more than 6,000 stand-up performances in 45 states under his belt, Kazam has the ability to work any crowd in any venue. A New York native, Kazam began performing shows for his family and friends at the age of three, but it wasn’t until graduating college that he took the plunge as a full-time comedian. Winner of season three of Comcast’s “Trial By Laughter,” Mike Merryfield has established himself as one of America’s top comedians. Merryfield has appeared on two, one-hour comedy specials on SiriusXM Radio and released several comedy albums, including the Grammy nominated “Live at Loonies.”

Greg Vaccariello realized he was funny in third grade. The Bronx native began doing stand-up in 1989 and was soon traveling the country, working the comedy circuit from Florida to Maine and Arizona to Michigan. Vaccariello’s television credits include “Law and Order: SVU,” “The King of Queens” and “Hope and Faith,” among others. He’s also appeared in the independent movies “Hung Up,” “No Money Down” and “Under Budget.” A hard-working comedian, Vaccariello continues to perform at comedy clubs across the country.

Award-winning comedian Don Barnhart is one of the top comedians working today. You may not know Barnhart by name but you’ll recognize his face as you’ve seen him on television and film, as well as headlining the top comedy clubs in Las Vegas for years. Barnart won the grand prize in the Levity, Talenthouse and Improv Comedy Club’s search for the next great comedian and stars in the film “Finding The Funny” featuring Brad Garrett, Louie Anderson and Marty Allen. Don got his start in comedy as house emcee, manager and talent coordinator at The Comedy & Magic Club in Hermosa Beach, CA. It was during the comedy boom of the 1980s that Barnhart opened for, learned from, worked with and forged friendships with today’s comedy legends, including Seinfeld, Leno, Jim Carey, Louis Black, Drew Carey, George Wallace, Louie Anderson, David Spade, Dana Carvey, Dennis Miller and more. Don’s film and television credits include his comedy special “I’m Not Just Eye Candy,” “Ocean’s 13,” “Apollo 13” and “The Bob & Tom Show,” among others. He’s also an accomplished author and certified hypnotist.

A 25-year comedy veteran, Michael Wheels Parise has performed with and starred alongside some of comedy’s biggest stars. Parise has been the opening act for Andrew Dice Clay for more than 20 years, stemming from their days at the Pips Comedy Club in Brooklyn, as well as numerous appearances on HBO and late-night talk shows. His film credits include “Meet Wally Sparks” and “A Low Down Dirty Shame,” among others. Parise also co-starred, alongside Andrew Dice Clay, in the VH-1 reality show “Dice Undisputed” and has performed at some of the most popular venues around the world, including the famous Comedy Store in Los Angeles, CA.

Rising from the streets of New York's ghettos to television superstardom, Jimmie Walker personifies the great American success story. Known for playing the character J.J. Evans on the hit television series “Good Times,” Walker’s catch phrase “Dyn-o-mite!” is part of the modern vernacular and Walker became such a major celebrity in the 1970s that Time Magazine named him “Comedian of the Decade.” He was the first winner of the NAACP Image Award and received a Golden Globe nomination for “Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.” His film and television credits include “The Mac Davis Show,” “Donny and Marie,” “The Merv Griffin Show,” “Hollywood Squares,” “Airplane!” and “Fantasy Island,” among many others.

Mike Marino, affectionately known to thousands of his fans as “New Jersey’s Bad Boy,” is one of the most unique comics of our time. He has performed in every major comedy club from New York to Los Angeles. Born in Jersey City, New Jersey, he entered the world of theatre at an early age and is a graduate of the prestigious American Academy of Dramatic Arts. Mike has appeared in more than 200 national television commercials and also has success in both film and television, with credits including, “As the World Turns,” “One Life to Live,” “Party of Five” and Stephen King’s “Lucky Quarter.” His comedic style has landed him guest appearances on “The Tonight Show,” “The Martin Short Show” and “Comics Unleashed,” to name a few.

Derek Richards’ act is fast, fresh and at times, fanatical. He brings the funny with tales about his blue-collar upbringing, his mom’s dog, the holidays and dating an exotic dancer. A veteran of several USO tours, Richards was chosen as one of the first performers at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba and has performed at United States base camps in Iraq, Afghanistan, Kuwait and Africa. Richards has released two live CDs, “Sensitivity Training” and “Who’s Your Daddy,” and is heard regularly on the “Bob & Tom Show” on XM Satellite Radio Network.

Harah's Rolls Out NFR Specials W/Celebs & Entertainment

Piano Twins

To celebrate the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo from Dec.  4 – 13, Harrah’s Las Vegas will feature a variety of events and specials at multiple venues as well as a live feed of the rodeo at all bars throughout the property.

Carnaval Court will feature live music from country artist Chris Janson Dec. 4 – 6, beginning at 9 p.m. each night. Rounding out the final days of the rodeo on Dec. 12 and 13 will be live performances from country artist Casey Jamerson, also kicking off at 9 p.m. each night. Neighboring Piano Bar will treat guests to a country set from The Twins, a talented blonde bombshell and identical twin duo, on the dueling pianos.

Guests will have the opportunity to meet some of their favorite cowboys with signings taking place at Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar & Grill Dec. 5 and 6 and again Dec. 12 and 13 from 9 p.m. to 12 a.m.
