Throughout the mentorship program, selected UNLV graduate students will participate in a variety of rigorous externships or internships with members of the highly esteemed board. Upon graduation, the Las Vegas Business Academy offers assistance to scholarship recipients in securing job placement within local companies that align with each student’s career aspirations.

“Working directly with the Las Vegas Business Academy mentors has given me the chance to explore a variety of career opportunities,” said Tasha Schwikert, Las Vegas Business Academy scholarship recipient. “Having this financial assistance has been incredible, but working alongside the business professionals has allowed me to personalize my career path in the direction I desire.”

The Las Vegas Business Academy currently has four scholarship recipients, Matthew Sheahan, pursuing a Master’s degree in hotel administration; Tasha Schwikert, pursuing a Juris Doctorate; Daven Cameron, pursuing a Juris Doctorate and Keivan Roebuck, pursuing a Master’s degree in business administration and a Juris Doctorate.

The Las Vegas Business Academy is offering scholarships to eligible recipients with the drive to become the next generation of future leaders of Las Vegas. To be eligible, students must be a United States citizens or legal permanent resident and enrolled or plan to enroll in an MBA, MHA or JD program at UNLV. Eligible students must have a minimum college or post-secondary degree grade point average (GPA) of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale.

Students who accept a scholarship from LVBA are expected to complete an MBA or MHA in no more than two years or a JD in no more than three years. Scholarship recipients must commit to three years of employment with a Nevada based company upon completion of the Master’s program and commit to travel either domestically or internationally for work related training. Students also must complete 500 hours per year of training or mentorship, including charitable work done at the direction of LVBA and 250 hours required by hotel school.

Las Vegas' Ventriloquist Back On Stage At At The Suncoast On 11/8 & 11/9

Ventriloquist Ronn Lucas and his cast of characters will perform a mix of stand-up comedy and improvisations at the Suncoast Showroom on November 8 and 9.

Honing his talent at a young age, Lucas was inspired by the ventriloquists he saw on television, such as Jimmy Nelson and his doll Danny O'Day on the "Texaco Star Theater." By the time he was 10, Lucas was able to speak without moving his mouth.

Lucas is recognized as the first ventriloquist to headline a long-running show in Las Vegas and has received numerous awards for his performances, including being termed “The World's Best Ventriloquist” by The New York Times and The London Times.

During his show, Lucas voices his characters Scorch the Dragon, Buffalo Billy and Chuck the Disposable Punk Rocker. In 1992, Lucas voiced Scorch the Dragon in Scorch’s self-titled television show on CBS.

Throughout the years, Lucas has appeared on numerous television sitcoms, including "Nip Tuck," "L.A. Law" and "Night Court." In 1990, he starred in his self-titled program "The Ronn Lucas Show," broadcast in the United Kingdom. In 2009, he was featured in the documentary "I'm No Dummy," which explored the world of ventriloquism through various clips and interviews.

The Downtown Las Vegas Events Center (DLV) salutes service men and women by offering FREE general admission tickets with presentation of ID to Bret Michaels’ Life Rocks Tour performance on Friday, Nov. 7. The charity event will contribute to Michaels’ Life Rocks Foundation, benefiting a myriad of causes championed by the legendary rock star.

Veterans, active duty military, law enforcement, fire service and all medical personnel are invited to enjoy Michaels’ special performance at Downtown’s new open-air events center free of charge. Tickets may be redeemed with a valid ID at the D Las Vegas’ box office immediately, or on Friday, Nov. 7 beginning at 10 a.m. The offer is limited to four tickets per ID.

Guests can look forward to a powerful performance by Michaels that delivers music spanning his solo career and time as front man of the iconic metal band Poison. Local rock band Ashley Red will open the event, with a set beginning at 5 p.m. Michaels will take the stage promptly at 7 p.m. Gates to DLV will open at 5 p.m. and guests are advised to arrive early.

The Life Rocks Tour combines Michaels’ passion for music with the goal of raising funds for causes closest to his heart. The Nov. 7 concert will benefit organizations including Operation Homefront and the American Diabetes Association.

Sultry Singer Bebe Rexha Parties & Performs At Hyde Bellagio For Halloween

On Oct. 31, singer-songwriter Bebe Rexha delivered a thrilling performance at Hyde Bellagio for “Hyde in the Dark Halloween.” Dressed for the occasion in a sexy cop costume, the breakout artist made an appearance on the red carpet, posing for photos in front of adoring fans before heading inside the packed Las Vegas nightclub. Before her arrival, Rexha tweeted about the party, posting, “ Vegas! Im about to arrest you tonight. Im performing at the @HydeBellagio  tonight. See you there.”

Once inside, Rexha and a group of friends made their way to a plush VIP booth overlooking the dance floor, and were greeted by Hyde’s sultry servers with flashing lights and giant letters spelling out “B-E-B-E.” Later, the talented songstress  took the stage dressed in an all-black ensemble and enchanted the audience with her recent hit “I Can't Stop Drinking About You,” followed by her worldwide smash "Take Me Home," ending the performance with the whole club jumping in a swirl of confetti.

Afterwards, DJ Konflikt delivered high-powered sets for the costumed club-goers, keeping the crowd dancing well into the witching hour in the spookily decked out venue.

Erasure put on a high energy show at The Pearl at Palms Casino Resort Friday night from their more than two decade career, playing hits such as “Chains of Love” and “A Little Respect” and songs from their new album including “Reason” and “Dead of Night.” The audience sang along loudly to each song and most showed up in costume on this special Halloween performance. Even front man Andy Bell got into the Halloween spirit, while the other half of the duo Vince Clarke appeared in a polished suit.  Claiming “It’s good to be back!” – the feeling was mutual as The Pearl welcomed the group back for the first time since their 2011 performance.  Up for November at The Pearl, fans can rock alongside Judas Priest Nov. 14, Culture Club Nov. 22, Alice Cooper Nov. 26 and Chrissie Hynde Nov. 28.

American actress and producer, Vivica A. Fox, dined at TREVI Italian Restaurant inside The Forum Shops at Caesars Saturday afternoon with three friends.

The group enjoyed sharing Executive Chef Peter Scaturro’s Italian chopped salad, fettuccine alfredo, pepperoni pizza and spinach, crab and artichoke dip followed by tiramisu for dessert. The ladies sipped on Coppola Claret and commented that every dish was superb.
