American music pop star, Joe Jonas, celebrated his 25th birthday last night with his brothers, Kevin and Nick Jonas, at Michael and Jenna Morton’s all-new restaurant CRUSH eat, drink, love www.crushmgm.com inside MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Nick and Kevin and 17 of Joe’s closest friends kicked off the birthday festivities for their middle brother sipping on beer and wine and enjoying birthday tequila shots throughout the evening. Joe and his party posse had their meal prepared by Chef Billy DeMarco and munched on signature selections including: pizzas, angus mini burgers and kale salad. The birthday boy and his brothers were dressed casually for his night out on the town, while the ladies were dressed in cocktail party dresses. SAGE Summit 2014 In Las Vegas Was A Huge Success! Great Speakers!

Every year SAGE holds its annual convention. What or who is SAGE?  They provide small and medium sized organizations with a range of easy-to-use business management software and services - from accounting and payroll, to enterprise resource planning, customer relationship management and payments. Their customers receive continuous advice and support through their global network of local experts to help them solve their business problems, giving them the confidence to achieve their business ambitions.

Robert Gibbs & Karl Rove

This year the convention was held here in Las Vegas at Mandalay Bay. While being a business convention SAGE Summit provided the attendees a very interesting roster of Speakers including Jessica Alba, Magic Johnson, Biz Stone, Robert Gibbs and Karl Rove (for a complete list go to - www.sagesummit.com/.) What do these speakers have to do with a business convention? They are all entrepreneurs or influencers who have experience with small to medium businesses that have faced challenges with starting and maintaining their business momentum. As for Robert Gibbs and Karl Rove they were there to talk about what is happening to small and medium businesses with the current administration. They also strayed onto the topics of immigration and other political issues which had the crowd clapping (mostly for the conservative Karl Rove’s point of view.)

Among Karl’s statements “Everyone should run for office, make your voice heard!”  He also said that we as Americans should not stand for compromise in leadership and he wished for stronger leadership and a stance from the White House on immigration.   Robert Gibbs stated that he also agreed that there should be a message sent of “don’t send your kids here” and let’s work on a bi-partisan stance.

Rent the Runway’s Co-Founder Jennifer Fleiss also spoke about the challenges she faced on getting her company off the ground.  One very well-known fashion designer (wrap around dress) absolutely disagreed with the concept in the beginning but they persisted and now are the number one place to go to rent a designer dress/accessories for a special occasion. Her message to business owners “Listen to people, no does not mean no just means not right now.”  Another one of her messages was create for yourself and love what you do.

Josh Altman
Also speaking at a workshop was TV Reality Star Josh Altman from Bravo’s Millionaire Listing LA. Josh is 35 and it was very interesting to listen to how he went from building a successful mortgage company in LA only to see it fold years later due to the economic collapse. He then entered into the Real Estate market as a realtor. He recounted how one company hired him and promised him great leads! Well in sales it is all about the leads, on his first day he came bounding into the office ready to get started and was handed a phone book. Here are your leads! But Josh was not to be deterred from success. He worked and worked and now is on top again.

Josh’s Rules For Success:
1. Got to love what you do
2. Be available 24/7 and be ready for when opportunity is looking you straight in the eye Because it does not happen all the time so take advantage of it when it does.
3.  Separate yourself from the pack. Be better at your job. Attitude is everything.

Asked what he learned from his first business venture closing and what he would recommend to a business owner “Never overextend yourself. Yes it might be fun to have three cars and a huge house. But you don’t need it and if times get rough those items are the first to go.”

SAGE 2014 was a great success and small and medium business owners saw great speakers and had an opportunity to view what programs, software would help them manage their businesses and get to the next level.

Rock/Blues Legend ZZ Top Perform At The Joint W/Jeff Beck!

ZZ Top

Legendary and fan favorite rock band “ZZ Top” performed in Vegas on Saturday at The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on August 16, 2014. It is quite amazing that they are one of the few major label recording groups to have held the same lineup for more than forty years.  Members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame since 2004 ZZ Top was a big hit in Vegas!

Jeff Beck

Opening for  ZZ Top was English guitarist Jeff Beck who from his blog says “Playing guitar is a sideline, the cars are the main thing,” Beck jokes about his hotrod obsession – the guitar virtuoso has been playing a mix of instrumental songs and bluesy tunes that feature vocalist Jimmy Hall, who sang on Beck’s 1985 album Flash. Each night, Beck has been coming out to jam with the Texas blues trio to play some of their hits, like “Rough Boy” – which Beck and ZZ Top vocalist-guitarist Billy Gibbons played at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 25th Anniversary Concert in 2009 – and songs both artists have played, like “Jailhouse Rock,” which Beck covered on 1969′s Beck-Ola.” ( www.jeffbeckofficial.com/news/jeff-beck-on-going-note-for-note-with-zz-top-and-a-naughty-brian-wilson-track)

Dining Out? Try "Carmine’s The Best Place To Pick Up The Check!"

Do you have a special occasion coming up? Or maybe you have friends or family coming into town and you want to share a home-style dinner without the hassle of cooking, cleaning up. Then the perfect dining spot is waiting for you at Carmine’s at The Forum Shops at Caesar’s Palace. They recently celebrated their 1st Anniversary.  Talk about a “wow” factor! Family sized portions will have your eyes popping out of your head and you nose will appreciate the delicious Italian smells wafting off the plates.

Start your meal off with a refreshing cocktail or a glass of wine. The drink menu is quite extensive and I really enjoyed the Sinatra Iced Tea made with Bulleit Rye Whisky, Fresh Lemon Juice Maraschino Cherry Juice, on the rocks and extremely refreshing!   However since one of my favorite drinks is a Manhattan it is always a test to see what type of cherries are used in making one, a nice brandied cherry is the best choice, if you run into a Manhattan made with a maraschino cherry sadly to say not up to par! Well order a Manhattan at Carmine’s and it comes with a brandied cherry. Score a point for Carmine’s.

Eggplant Parmesan

Cold Antipasto Platter
Next what type of appetizer would you like? They have eighteen to choose from and all are simply delicious. If you order the Caesar salad remember it can feed up to six and is covered with fresh mozzarella cheese. A mountain! The fried zucchini is freshly breaded and is thin not the thickly breaded spears that you might experience somewhere else.   If a Cold Antipasto plate is on your list of favorite appetizers then you will be delighted with this gargantuan sized serving.  My favorite appetizer is the calamari, which is fresh and tender and not over breaded. It is served with a spicy marinara sauce that compliments this tender seafood which when cooked correctly is so so very good. After tasting Carmine’s calamari you will become a tad spoiled.

Keep in mind that these dishes are all family sized so an appetizer or two and two main courses will feed a party of 4-6 comfortably. Now on to the main course. All of the favorites are well represented on this menu, pasta, chicken, seafood, beef and house specialties. We had three of the dishes including Eggplant Parmesan, Chicken Marsala and the Porterhouse Contadina.

Porterhouse Contadina
The Eggplant Parmesan is a tower of food. Thinly sliced and covered with fresh mozzarella, fabulous!  Some Chicken Marsala can be sauce heavy but this sauce is divine. The chicken is so tender it literally melts in your mouth with the Marsala sauce which has the perfect tastes of butter, olive oil and mushrooms a little piece of heaven right there in the plate right in front of you.  BEEF! The Porterhouse Contadina consists of a 45 oz. sliced porterhouse steak and is served with sweet Italian fennel sausage, onions, peppers and potatoes.  You cannot go wrong with a porterhouse steak, well I guess you could but Carmine’s serves this dish perfectly.  You can cut the steak with your fork.

Bread Pudding

The Titanic
After all of this food you had better keep a little room left for dessert.  They have nine desserts to choose from and we had the Bread Pudding and the Titanic.  Bread pudding happens to be one of my favorite desserts but yes it can be quite heavy and gooey. NOT here!  They use fresh bread and it is light airy and decadent. Even people at our table who were not so keen on bread pudding were oohing and ahhing over this dish.  I can say, the best Bread Pudding I have ever had.  Oh and by the way I hear that they "individually toast and butter each slice of bread" for the pudding. TRY IT!!  Another popular dessert here is the Titanic, which is just that, Titanic sized!  What is in this famous dessert?  Try a flourless Chocolate Torte, 3 scoops of Vanilla Ice Cream, 2 scoops of Chocolate Ice Cream,  fresh whipped cream,  freshly sliced strawberries and bananas, pineapple roasted with cinnamon, chocolate syrup and chopped hazelnuts and 4 Ferraro hazelnut chocolate swirls that  make up the smoke stacks. If a family of 4-6 could finish all of the food in this article then hats off to you.

Singer Tiashe Takes Over TAO Beach & TAO Nightclub!

R&B songstress Tinashe was spotted at TAO Beach on Thursday afternoon. As she made her way into the party she was seen chatting and taking photos with several fans. While at the daytime hot spot, the singer uploaded a video to her Instagram account of her dancing from the venue's grand cabana overlooking the entire poolside party.

That evening after walking the red carpet in a yellow dress paired with a camouflage print jacket, the singer fueled up for her night ahead with dinner at TAO Asian Bistro. While on the red carpet, Tinashe revealed that her new album will be dropping in October. At dinner she was joined by a group of friends as they all enjoyed signature dishes from the Asian kitchen, including the Wasabi Crusted Filet Mignon which Tinashe was sure to mention how much she loved.

Following dinner, Tinashe and her friends moved upstairs to TAO Nightclub where the she hosted the latest installment of Worship Thursdays. Shortly after arriving and taking over a VIP table on the dance floor situated next to the DJ booth, the singer made her way up to the stage to perform a few of her hits. The crowd favorite during her performance was her ever-growing hit and current single "2 On," which the excited packed house cheered and sang along to. After her performance she returned to her table where she took photos with fans throughout the night and enjoyed the sounds of DJ Five. Around 2am, she joined Five in the DJ booth to surprise party-goers with an impromptu encore performance of "2 On."
