Local Cyclist from Mack Middle School to try breaking World Record!

Local cyclist will attempt to set world record at Las Vegas Motor Speedway
Henderson resident Erik Skramstad will attempt to make history today at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Skramstad will cycle around the Bullring – LVMS’s 3/8-mile asphalt oval – in an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for “Cycling, No Hands-Distance in One Hour.” Skramstad, a teacher at Mack Middle School and adjunct professor at Sierra Nevada College, will attempt to break the current record of 15.9 miles ridden on a bicycle without using hands beginning at 5 a.m. on Tuesday. An active cyclist, he has participated in various events including the Furnace Creek 508, the 3,000-mile Race Across America and the Laughlin Loop 190-mile ride. “There were a number of reasons I chose to pursue breaking this particular record,” Skramstad said. “Over the last couple of years, the time I have for riding has dwindled. My focus on ultra-marathon racing has shifted for the time being as I complete my doctoral degree, to a world-record attempt. I wanted to attempt to break a very achievable record that was interesting and, after watching numerous automotive events at LVMS, it seemed like a perfect fit for this attempt.” Guinness World Records is the universally recognized authority on record-breaking achievement. First published in 1955, the annual Guinness World Records book is published in more than 100 countries and 25 languages and is one of the highest-selling books under copyright of all time with more than three million copies sold annually across the globe. Fallout Gallery Showing Featuring the photos by Jesse Nabers of the ECs Double Down Cast of Characters!

It is always interesting to see how a photographer looks through the eye of the camera and catches their subject! Last week Photographer Jesse Nabers had a showing at the Fallout Gallery and the show was named "The Exciting Sounds of Al Martino." and The Vermin & Moss Invade New York City.
A little bit of history of how and what this exhibit means. Every March New York has an infusion of a certain set of characters who are in town to celebrate the Double Down Saloon's east coast existence. Let's see...guys with name such as P. Moss, Dirk Vermin, Rob Ruckus, Turbo Proctor, Louie "The Letch" and Darran Wells and welcoming them is East Village mainstay Tom Vaught. In New York they hang out with friends, drink beer, eat REAL pizza and keep the ladies fully occupied and oh yeah they play loud music!
During the celebrations in 2009 they brought along a photographer, Jesse Nabers and how he captures this year's celebration is brought to life in several black and white photos that showcase each man's personality through the eye of the camera.
Raw and revealing these black and white photos are filled with life and ambiance. When asked why black and white, Jesse replied "Black and white photos are timeless and the quality is wonderful and they never seen dated." What does he like best about photographing people. "Catching people having fun!" When you see the photos, he has accomplished that! Each photo is signed and numbered 1/1, call the gallery for pricing or better yet go see these photos, you will be intrigued.

At TAO Last Night - Joe Rogan, Holly Madison, Nikie Hilton, Jeff Beacher. NHL at LAVO

Holly Madison
DJ Vice and Joe Rogan
Saturday night at TAO Joe Rogan hosted a post fight party and celebrated the premiere of his new comedy special on Spike TV. Rogan and friends first dined in the Asian bistro, sampling house specialties. Dining nearby under the watchful eye of TAO’s giant Buddha was Holly Madison. The reality star who is set to make her stage debut in Peepshow was looking every bit the sex kitten in a skintight black dress, frilly white bobby socks and black heels. The blond vixen was overheard talking about how excited she is to host at TAO Beach on July 5th. After dinner Rogan and friends made their way to the nightclub where Rogan wasted no time jumping on the microphone to hype up the crowd. A bevy of beauties made their way over to the table in front of the DJ booth and all partied to the sounds of DJ Vice. Taking fashionably late to a new level, heiress Nicky Hilton arrived at TAO around 3:30 in the morning with boyfriend David Katzenberg and Jeff Beacher. Hilton always comes to see DJ Vice when she is in Vegas and Vice made sure to send shout outs her way as she danced atop the catwalk. Over at LAVO the NHL invasion continued as Phoenix Coyote Dan Winnik hit the nightclub with his brother and friends.
