HAWAIIAN TROPIC ZONE HOSTS MISS COORS LIGHT – LAS VEGAS SEARCH

On Thursday, June 18, Hawaiian Tropic Zone inside Miracle Mile Shops hosts the Miss Coors Light – Las Vegas search. Contenders will take to the catwalk and strut their stuff in their sexiest bikinis. The top 10 ladies will be determined by the crowd of onlookers and the winner will be chosen by Hawaiian Tropic Zone’s guest judges. The winner will receive honors as Miss Coors Light – Las Vegas which includes a schedule of paid appearances, a contract with T&A Models and $2,000 cash.

Those looking to participate must be at Hawaiian Tropic Zone by 11 p.m. the night of the event. Space is limited. To register, patrons must enter via e-mail at http://us.mc521.mail.yahoo.com/mc/compose?to=MissCoorsLight@RieseRest.com by midnight on Wednesday, June 17 and provide their first and last name, cell phone number and two or three images. Loretta Lynn is The Coal Miner’s Daughter – from her life experience to best-selling album and hit single, to the title of her autobiography and on to the Oscar-winning film. This country music legend has been striking a cord with fans everywhere since the early ’60s. It was in 1967 that she released her first number one single “Don’t Come Home a Drinkin’ (With Lovin’ on Your Mind), and again in 1968 with “The Fist.” Since then, Lynn has continued to release number one and top ten hit singles and albums. She also received a Grammy award in 1971 for the song “After the Fire is Gone” which she sang with Conway Twitty, among which the duo released several other hit songs. Lynn has steadily released chart topping albums with the most recent being Van Lear Rose in 2004, that also won her two more Grammy awards. She is currently working on a follow-up album to her 2004 release as well as re-recorded version of her greatest hits. Both albums are due out later this year.

On a dare from Steve Wynn, he will prove it on stage at the Encore Theater, for one night only, on Friday, June 19 at 8 p.m. The special performance will benefit the Larry King Cardiac Foundation, which provides funding for life saving cardiac procedures for individuals who, due to limited means and no insurance, would be otherwise unable to receive treatment. After a remarkable 50 years in broadcasting and more than 40,000 interviews, political debates and topical discussions, Larry King has some stories to tell! Enjoy a rare opportunity to laugh with Larry as he recounts tales and anecdotes from some of his more notorious guests and legendary experiences, which have spanned his career. AFAN sends 23 children to Camp Courage today!!

2009 AFAN Camp Courage Counselors

At approximately 12:20 p.m. today, Aid for Aids of Nevada (AFAN) sent 23 children to Camp Courage, a two-day long summer camp for children affected and infected by HIV/AIDS. Four vans full of enthused children and camp counselors made their way to Disneyland and are expected to return Friday evening. The mission of Camp Courage is to help children between the ages of 5 and 16 overcome the obstacles associated with HIV/AIDS by providing a therapeutic wilderness experience that fosters self-confidence, social interaction and social support. Thanks to the community’s generous contributions of funds and camp supplies, AFAN celebrates four consecutive years of Camp Courage and looks forward to many more to come.
