Comedian/Actor Chris Tucker Performs At The Pearl On 5/24/19

Comedian Chris Tucker returns to The Pearl inside Palms Casino Resort  on May 24, 2014 at 8 p.m. Tickets start at $45, plus any additional service fees.

Chris Tucker is best known for his role of Detective James Carter in the “Rush Hour” film series. Starting his career as a stand up comedian, Tucker’s bold sense of humor landed him a spot on “Def Comedy Jam” where he frequently performed in the 1990s.

The buzz that Tucker garnered from his many appearances as a stand up helped open doors in the film industry. Following his film debut in 1994’s “House Party 3,” Tucker achieved ‘cult classic’ status as Smokey in the stoner comedy “Friday.” Tucker’s next big movie role was in the avant-garde film “The Fifth Element.”

Tucker’s film career reached soaring heights as the star of the “Rush Hour” blockbuster film series. The original, along with two sequels, grossed more than $500 million in the U.S. The success of the films enabled Tucker to negotiate a salary of $25 million, making him one of the highest paid actors in Hollywood for “Rush Hour 3.”

In 2013, Tucker enjoyed the buzz from a well-received performance opposite Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro in the David O. Russell directed film “Silver Linings Playbook.” Tucker continues to tour year after year performing stand-up comedy around the world.

NOVE Italiano at Palms Casino Resort introduces the NOVE Italiano Guest Series featuring renowned culinary experts showcasing their exquisite cuisines, cocktails and desserts during three events. One Of My Fave Performers Peter Pavone Joins "Country Superstars" Cast!

PAVONE JOINS 'COUNTRY SUPERSTARS' Performer cast as George Strait, Johnny Cash

Peter Pavone’s better know as a Sinatra impersonator recently joined "Country Superstars" as Johnny Cash and George Strait at Planet Hollywood.

He will be working in the show part-time not all six nights. Show times are 7 p.m. Tuesday thru Sunday at the V Theatre.

Peter was also listed as fourth “Best Impersonator” in the R-J’s Best of Las Vegas Poll for 2014. That’s considering all celebrity impersonators. Peter was ranked the “Best Sinatra Impersonator.”

He recently returned from a six-week engagement in Kyoto , Japan which was sold-out.  He said, “The Japanese audience was sensational and I sold more CDs in six weeks than since `Cool Hot & Swingin’’ was released in 2008. Peter’s latest release `Sinatra Style’ is also available on iTunes.”

The Las Vegas resident tells his story.

He said, “I was born and reared in Trumbull , CT and began his music endeavours at age 12. After several decades of music and theatre I finally got a casting call to play Sinatra in Las Vegas . I studied comedy in LA and took dance lessons (tap, modern dance and ballroom).”

He said, “I met Frank Sinatra in 1959 thru my Aunt Milly who dated Harry James. He was very kind and cordial and had always been my musical idol. I got to see his show in ’84 and it was good. It stands to reason that when I got the call to play Frank Sinatra it was like coming home.”

Peter moved to Las Vegas on Memorial Day Weekend in 2011 to play three shows at the Rampart that were sold-out. He said, “I decided to make Las Vegas my home base for performing. I’ve actually only been impersonating Sinatra for three years.”

While living in San Diego he performed at the Lawrence Welk Theater doing the Rat Pack from Vegas show for 10 sold-out shows. One of his most memorable shows was at the Borgatta Event Center 500-Club in Atlantic City 1,000-seat dinner show. He said, “I received a standing ovation after singing `My Way.’” He also toured Australia for five weeks and said, “The crowds went crazy.”

After performing in 2011 and 2012 in all of the Rat Pack shows in Las Vegas , Peter is now producing his own shows which have become the toast of the town with sell-out crowds everywhere he performs. He lists his corporate gigs as follows: Make-A-Wish, Lou Ruvo Institute, Dr. Pepper, NASCAR, Boyd Gaming, Ford Motor Co., Fairmont , MGM, Cosmo, The Rio and The Riviera.

Professional Make-Up Brands Now Available To General Public At L Makeup Institute!

L Makeup Institute, which opened in 2010 as the first educational academy in Las Vegas offering a full curriculum in makeup artistry, has expanded to a new 4,000-square-foot facility and added a retail offering open to consumers for the first time.

The general public now has access to brands previously only available to professional makeup artists, including Kryolan Pro Zone, Ben Nye, exclusive products from Makeup Forever, RCMA and more.  As L Makeup Institute’s core platform is education, there is always a professional artist on hand to assist consumers with selecting the appropriate products and providing expert beauty advice.  Unlike the behemoth beauty emporiums which can so easily overwhelm shoppers, the Institute’s offerings have been carefully curated to showcase only the most revered pro products.

In conjunction with the new retail area, L Makeup Institute will debut a series of complimentary consumer workshops designed to impart professional beauty tips and tricks.  Workshop topics include: waterproofing your makeup, teen makeup, how to look HD camera ready, the beauty of color for ethnic skin tones and how to use cosmetics to look more youthful.

L Makeup Institute offers courses in beauty, airbrush, body painting and special effects, along with specialized workshops, all taught by established professional, media and film production artists.  The facility features separate training areas for beauty and special effects, individual learning stations, superior lighting for proper skin tone matching and technical applications, a photography studio, surround sound and high definition television and video screens and production, along with a library and resource center.  Each course is limited to twelve students in order to deliver the personalized instruction necessary for developing elite artists.

More than 150 students have graduated from the school since its opening, many who have gone on to work in the industry and job placement assistance is offered to graduates. Sessions range from 100 to 600 hours with tuition from $2,000-$20,000 which includes the necessary products and materials required for each course. Financing is available.
