KINDSOMNIA Took Over Vegas! Kids LOVED It!

On Saturday, more than 2,500 Las Vegas students representing all 59 Southern Nevada middle schools were up all night, all in the name of being Kind. Hosted by the Josh Stevens Foundation, KINDSOMNIA was back for its third year.

KINDSOMNIA is designed to be a life-changing event during which middle school students celebrate and practice acts of Kindness. The evening begins with a “Kindness rally” led by Drew Stevens, founder, Josh Stevens Foundation. He will discuss ways to incorporate Kindness into everyday life and how to create a legacy to be proud of. With this newfound or reinforced knowledge, the students begin their adventure for the evening. Throughout the night, they will be challenged to reach out and make new friends, be Kind to each other and catch one another in the act of being Kind.

Students spent the evening at numerous, adventure-packed attractions throughout Southern Nevada including AdventureDome, paintballing, Skymania, Cosmic Bowling, and extreme obstacle courses. The evening began with the Kindness rally. From there, they were transported by bus to all locations and supervised not only by a group of Foundation staff members, but also nearly 300 adult and parent volunteers. The students returned by 7 a.m. on Sunday.

The turn-out of nearly 2,500 students represented a 40 percent increase over 2013’s attendance.

WHO: Founded in 2008, the Josh Stevens Foundation’s mission is to recognize and reward a child’s heartfelt Kind act and to inspire kids to be more Kind, more often. Genuine Kindness born in the heart of a child deserves celebration. One month before Josh’s 13th birthday, he lost his life in a tragic accident in September 2008. Amongst his friends, family and community, he was known as a person who was Kind and often did good deeds for others. He left a legacy of Kindness that lives on today through the work of the foundation. To date, nearly 90,000 Kindness cards and 300,000 “Be Kind” t-shirts with various slogans have been printed and distributed.
