Pablo Martinez and Carlene LeFevre were named “Nevada Hot Dog Eating Champions” and have earned a spot to compete on the Coney Island stage on July 4. During the 10-minute competition, Martinez took top male honors, finishing 26 hot dogs while LeFevre won the female division, eating 13 hot dogs.

“New York-New York Hotel & Casino has continuously been a great partner for us as they never fail to provide a dynamic destination for competitive eating and stands as the longest-running qualifier on the Nathan's Famous qualifying circuit,” said Major League Eating President Richard Shea. “Nevada will bring great competitors to Coney Island on July 4.”

In the local heroes competition, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department defeated Nellis Air Force Base and the lovely women of FANTASY at Luxor by consuming 33 hot dogs and winning $1,000 for the Injured Police Officers Fund.

The Nathan’s Famous International Hot Dog Eating Contest has occurred each July 4 in Coney Island, N.Y. since 1916, the year Nathan Handwerker opened the legendary restaurant.

Major League Eating, the governing body of all stomach-centric sports, sanctions the Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Circuit and ensures the contests are judged professionally and safety standards are upheld at each event.
