New Exhibit Celebrating Muhammad Ali Opens At The Bellagio On 3/31
Celebrating the life and legacy of the world’s greatest heavyweight boxer, Muhammad Ali, Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art (BGFA) will unveil its newest exhibit on March 31.
Offering a never-before-seen look into Ali’s captivating and historic life and organized with support from Muhammad Ali Enterprises, “I Am the Greatest: Muhammad Ali,” explores the legend’s rise from “The Louisville Lip” to “The Greatest of All Time.” The exhibit features unseen video footage and family photos, rare personal heirlooms and stories from his closest friends.
“In a city synonymous with boxing, bringing the story of this legendary athlete and humanitarian to Las Vegas where he impacted so many fans and visitors, is a great honor for us at Bellagio,” said Tarissa Tiberti, executive director of Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art. “This is unlike any other exhibit we’ve had at the gallery and we’re thrilled to share parts of Ali’s life that resonate with guests from around the world.”
Ali’s six core principles of Confidence, Conviction, Dedication, Giving, Respect and Spirituality will be explored through personal words, photos and possessions, uncovering the story behind one of the most recognizable sports figures of the 20th century.
“We are excited to extend Muhammad’s legacy and ideals to fans of all ages from around the world,” said Muhammad’s wife Lonnie Ali. “Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art has done an exceptional job working with the Muhammad Ali Center in Muhammad’s hometown of Louisville, KY, to create an immersive exhibition experience that showcases the six core principles that shaped his incredible life.”
Inside the gallery, stories behind Ali’s lifetime achievements will be revealed, from his accomplishments in the ring to his humanitarian work around the world with organizations such as the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the Special Olympics.
The exhibit will feature personal artifacts including Ali’s two-time World Champion ring from 1974 and three-time World Champion ring from 1978. The torches and participation medals that Ali was awarded from the 1960 Rome Olympics, as well as an autographed pair of boxing shorts and gloves gifted to Elvis Presley, also will be on display.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to sit ring-side where they will view clips of Ali’s most legendary fights and learn about the philanthropic endeavors of this global role model.
“I Am the Greatest: Muhammad Ali” runs from March 31 through September 30, 2017.
Tickets to BGFA are $18; $16 for Nevada residents and seniors 65 and older; students, teachers and military with valid ID. Children 12 and younger are free.
