The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway will put the finishing touches on an exciting 2016 season when it hosts the West Coast Short Track Championships on Saturday night.
The popular event will close the short track’s 2016 competition schedule as three major racing series come to town for the special evening. The SPEARS Southwest Tour Series, Lucas Oil Modified Series and Race Car Factory Spec Late Models all will run as part of the race schedule, with a pair of lengthy features anchoring the night’s festivities.
Action at the 3/8-mile paved oval begins with the first of two Lucas Oil Modifieds feature segments, a 51-lap stretch, and continues with a 30-lap Race Car Factory Spec Late Models feature. The Lucas Oil Modifieds will then finish their night with a 50-lap feature segment that will decide the race winner, and the SPEARS Southwest Tour Series’ 150-lap feature serves as the nightcap.
Gates open at 2 p.m. Pacific Time, and fans can enjoy qualifying for all three series, a 40-lap Lucas Oil Modifieds B-Feature and two eight-lap Race Car Factory Spec Late Models heat races before opening ceremonies at 5 p.m.
The West Coast Short Track Championships serve as a fitting exclamation point to an immensely successful season that began in late March and included 14 major events during the year.
The annual Bullring Banquet will take place on Saturday, Dec. 3, at Sam’s Town Hotel and Gambling Hall, and the track’s 11 season champions will be honored as part of the special night. Tickets are available by calling LVMS at 800-644-4444.
