Springs Preserve and Barrick Gold became a dynamic duo over the past weekend treating more than 7700 Nevada residents - kids and adults - to free admission to celebrate the end of summer.
The Superhero Summer Send-off was made possible through the generous sponsorship of Barrick Gold. The weekend was a smashing success as caped crusaders large and small traversed the Springs Preserve Saturday and Sunday vanquishing villainy, enjoying superhero story time, magic shows and movies.
"We are honored to celebrate Barrick's first year in southern Nevada with this community focused event," said Leslie Maple, Manager of Communications and Corporate Affairs, Barrick U.S.A. "The Springs Preserve has been one of Barrick's community partners for a number of years. It's one of our community's best attractions and a place we think everyone should experience. We hope that free admission gave local families and children a chance to enjoy time together and recharge their super powers before heading back to school."
The weekend was Barrick’s gift to the community in honor of the one-year anniversary of their expansion to Southern Nevada. The company relocated its global information technology, supply chain and finance functions to Henderson in 2015. Barrick donates substantially to Nevada communities.
Located just three miles from the famed Las Vegas Strip, the Springs Preserve is an award-winning 180-acre family destination dedicated to exploring green-living, desert life, and Las Vegas’ vibrant history through botanical gardens, interactive science and nature exhibits, animal shows, and trails offering hiking, biking and train rides.
