Cool Comedy & Hot Cuisine Event Comes To Las Vegas!
With a roster full of Bravo’s Top Chef Masters and noted comedians including host Bill Bellamy, the Scleroderma Research Foundation's Cool Comedy-Hot Cuisine fundraising event returns to Las Vegas October 13. The event will be held at Brooklyn Bowl at The Linq - www.brooklynbowl.com/las-vegas/.
The second Cool Comedy-Hot Cuisine gala for the Scleroderma Research Foundation (SRF) in Las Vegas, this bi-annual event raises awareness for scleroderma and funds to support the SRF's innovative research program, bringing hope and helping to improve the quality of life for patients suffering from this debilitating disease. Since its founding in 1987, the Foundation has taken a collaborative approach, bringing together some of the brightest minds in science to unravel the mystery of this complex autoimmune disease.
The word scleroderma literally means “hard skin,” but the disease is much more, often affecting the internal organs with lethal consequences. In some cases, the joints and muscles are affected, resulting in severe pain and limited mobility. Vascular damage due to scleroderma can result in loss of fingers, toes and entire limbs—but the most serious complications involve the lungs and kidneys.
SRF Board Member and Event Chairman Saville Kellner will again head this year’s event as a generous supporter and patient himself. Diagnosed just a few years ago, Kellner had already been active with Scleroderma Research Foundation and Cool Comedy-Hot Cuisine events before receiving his own devastating diagnosis. Through his own story and with support from participating chefs, Kellner has worked tirelessly to bring this successful fundraising evening to Las Vegas.
“I’ve been blessed. Trust me, contracting scleroderma was not my life plan but it has provided me the incredible opportunity of meeting an astounding group of people who are thoroughly committed to eradicating this horrible disease,” says Saville Kellner. “Come out to see us on October 13th. The show will be fantastic, the food amazing and the cause is beyond worthy.”
Following a cocktail hour beginning at 6:30pm, Cool Comedy-Hot Cuisine guests will be treated to dinner prepared by four of Las Vegas’ Bravo Top Chef Masters, Chefs Rick Moonen, Mary Sue Milliken and Susan Feniger , and Hubert Keller. Entertainers from the hit Las Vegas show Absinthe will perform for guests as well as noted comedians and special musical guests.
An exclusive live auction hosted by Absinthe stars The Gazillionaire and Penny includes items such as a Napa Valley adventure and in-home Top Chef Masters dinners offers guests a chance to further support the SRF while enjoying unique and once-in-a-lifetime experiences.
Tickets for this year’s festivities are on sale today at the SRF website - www.srfcure.org/get-involved/store?page=shop.browse&category_id=8&vmcchk=1. Prices range from $500 to $25,000 for a Platinum level table of 10. Sponsorship opportunities are also available.
In addition to raising funds through ticket sales and auction items, generous sponsors including Presenting Sponsor Actelion Pharmaceuticals, Diamond Sponsor Breakthru Beverage, and additional sponsors Dignity Health, and Embraer have offered additional support to this year’s event. With the goal of raising $1 million dollars, each organization has donated much needed support for the continued fight against scleroderma.
