toys for children of deployed soldiers
Pyrotecnico,
one of the country’s most creative fireworks display, pyrotechnics and special
effects companies, has created a special show for the free July 4th Stars,
Stripes and Sparks Independence Day celebration at the Providence Master
Planned Community. The 15-minute extravaganza will be the culmination of the
event that includes kids activities, picnics and food trucks, contests, a beer
and wine garden, and live music from The Garage Boys rock band.
The
Stars, Stripes and Sparks fireworks will feature multi-color, pattern,
color-changing and special effects shells and barrages complemented with
traditional and contemporary patriotic songs. They include “Thunderstruck,”
“R.O.C.K the USA,” “God Bless the USA,” “Stars and Stripes Forever,” “Armed
Forces Medley,” “Born in the USA,” “Coming to America,” “Born Free,” “American
Band,” and “Red, White, and Blue.” The show will be simulcast on 97.1 The Point
– KXPT.
The
Saturday, July 4 event begins at 6 p.m. with fireworks around 9:15 p.m.,
weather permitting, at Providence’s Knickerbocker Park, located at 10695
Dorrell Lane, just north of the I-215 North Beltway and Hualapai Way exit. The park’s northwest location and higher
elevation also provides a panoramic view of the entire Las Vegas Valley and
vantage point to watch earlier fireworks from other sites.
Picnic
baskets, chairs and coolers – subject to search – are welcome. No outside
alcohol, glass or fireworks, including sparklers, are permitted in the park.
Food
trucks include Curbside Café, The Cookie Bar, Fat Daddy's Ice Cream, Grouchy
John’s Coffee, Hawaiian Shaved Ice, Lobster Shack, Sausagefest, Senor Blues,
Slidin' Thru and World's Best Corndogs.
The
dedicated kids area has water slides, hula hoops and water blasters tents for
ages 7 and younger and ages 8 and older. Attendees are encouraged to bring
their own water blasters or super soakers. Contests for all ages include “Who
Can Do It Better” and “What’s Your Hidden Talent." Park amenities include
play areas for 2 to 5-year-olds and 5 to 12-year-olds, swing set and splash
pad.
Guests
are invited to bring new toys for children of deployed troops through USO Las
Vegas at the Providence Master Homeowners Association booth. Individuals who
donates three toys will be entered to win prizes including a $250 gift card.
