The
South Point Arena & Equestrian Center will host the 2015 Pacific Coast
Cutting Horse Association (PCCHA) Core Balance Derby Classic Challenge, a
spectacular cutting horse show, Tuesday, June 9 through Monday, June 16.
The
Derby Classic includes many diverse and exciting classes with purse monies to
match, which is up for grabs by lucky and skilled winners. In addition, one of the
most influential people in the cutting horse industry will be presented with
the prestigious 2015 Dave McGregor Award.
Throughout
the week, a variety of classes will be offered during the seven-day show, most
notably being the esteemed Open Derby with added monies of $50,000. In
addition, the $20,000 Added Non Pro Derby, $25,000 Added Open Classic/Challenge
and $15,000 Added Non Pro Classic/Challenge will be offered. The new Unlimited
Amateur division has been added to the roster of both the Derby and Classic
Challenge with $7,500 added to each event. There are $50,000 Amateur Rider
events in both age groups as well.
In
addition, the Metallic Cat Incentive Fund will return after a successful
turnout last year. Within the Open Derby competition will be a $40,000
Incentive purse for qualifying four year olds sired by the Metallic Cat, owned
by Fults Family Ranch. An additional $5,000 bonus will be offered to the Derby
Non Pro Champion if mounted on a Metallic Cat offspring.
For
the second year, the NCHA Open and Non Pro Mercuria will award a total purse of
$50,000. The top riders in the Nation’s Weekend Open and Non Pro competitions
will be riding for a $25,000 purse in the selected divisions. The PCCHA has
added three additional $1,000 NCHA Approved Weekend Open and Non Pro
competitions throughout the weeklong event.
The
South Point Arena & Equestrian Center is recognized as one of the finest
indoor horse facilities in the country. It offers more than 1,200
climate-controlled stalls, an indoor practice arena and a 4,600-seat main show
arena. The facility hosts some of the most prestigious equestrian events in the
world. In addition, South Point opened a new equestrian facility in July 2014,
the Priefert Pavilion. The multi-million dollar expansion project offers an
additional 100,000 square feet of competition space to the already existing
South Point Arena and includes two new climate-controlled arenas within the
center’s unique blueprint.
