First
Friday Las Vegas, one of the largest arts and culture festivals in the Western
United States, has a new footprint this June. First Friday is moving north to
simplified, yet robust activation with all the favorite festival elements
including the Art Walk, Artisan Bazaar, Fashion Alley, KidZone, Eatery, Main
Stage, Dance DepARTment and Guerilla Kages. While First Friday is an event
celebrated throughout the downtown area including the Arts District, Fremont
East, and in between, the production that First Friday Las Vegas LLC brings to
life will move to just North of Charleston, encompassing the area between
Charleston Blvd. to Coolidge Ave. and Casino Center Blvd. to Main St.
This
new footprint allows First Friday to not only reduce costs while keeping all of
the activations event-goers have come to know and love, but also allows for
reduced use of public right of ways including both roadways and walkways. On
the South side of Charleston Blvd. and on Commerce St., many of the activities
and destinations art lovers are used to seeing at First Friday will still be
active and full of artists and vendors including Blackbird Studios, Sin City
Pickers, Reclaimed Art Supplies, City of the World Gallery, The Funkhouse,
Cornerstone Gallery, Raw Remedies, neighboring galleries on Colorado Ave. and
3rd Street, Photo Bang Bang on Imperial, and many more. With the lack of street
closures in these areas, festival attendees will have easier access to parking
in front of these locations.
Summertime
in Las Vegas also marks the celebration of music, freedom and art as
exemplified in the next three themes for First Friday – June’s “Music is
Beautiful,” July’s “Heroes” and August’s “Art Battles.”
Beginning
Friday, June 5, First Friday Las Vegas presents “Music is Beautiful,” an
auditory celebration focusing on the diverse talent in the city. Over the past
two weeks, musicians of all genres have been vying for the opportunity to
perform at one of eight downtown venues. Event-goers can explore all of
downtown from the First Friday Main Stage to Container Park as Vegas’ best
musical talent performs. Other venues include the Dance DepARTment, Bunkhouse,
Commonwealth, Artifice, Inspire Theater and the Velveteen Rabbit. Crowds will
have a chance to support and cheer for their favorite musical acts to help
propel them to join the line-up at the 2015 Life is Beautiful Festival.
Presenting sponsor Don Julio Tequila hosts tequila tastings for First Friday
attendees 21 and over at exclusive lounges throughout the event. Best Buddies
invites all to make their own instruments, while Another Joy Foundation
presents interactive musical fun. Health Plan of Nevada & Southwest Medical
Association will host live karaoke. This June, KidZone is sponsored by Zero
Fatalities, providing demonstrations in pedestrian and bike safety, helmet
checks and CPR demonstrations.
First
Friday Las Vegas would like to thank all event sponsors including Don Julio
Tequila, Vegas.com, Health Plan of Nevada & Southwest Medical Association,
Zero Fatalities, Open Top Sightseeing, Another Joy Foundation, Best Buddies and
Epyk Entertainment.
