Chicken
Soup for the Soul, the world’s favorite and most recognized storyteller, has
added several Las Vegans to its cherished history. Publisher, editor-in-chief
and author Amy Newmark has collaborated with Las Vegas resident, Loren Slocum
Lahav, to co-author the newest book in the publisher’s collection, “Chicken
Soup for the Soul: Time to Thrive,” now available for pre-order on Amazon and
in stores May 5.
Slocum
Lahav – an international personal development speaker, seminar leader, coach
and author – worked closely with Newmark to curate 101 empowering stories that
will motivate readers to create balance and give more meaning to their lives.
The book also features touching pieces from other Las Vegas locals including
Jaki Baskow, Founder of Baskow & Associates; and Sam Georges, the former
CEO/President of Tony Robbins’ organization.
“I am
thrilled to represent Las Vegas in such a motivating and transformational
book,” said Slocum Lahav. “We have collaborated with some amazing individuals
who have conquered their fears, embraced adventure and found the path to a more
fulfilling lifestyle.”
Bringing
the heart of the city into the pages of the book, the following Las Vegas
locals shared their souls in “Chicken Soup for the Soul: Time to Thrive:”
· Loren Slocum Lahav; Personal
Development Speaker
Along
with penning the book, Slocum Lahav also contributed a story to “Chicken Soup
for the Soul: Time to Thrive.” In her piece “The Strength of No,” Slocum Lahav
dives into a difficult time in her life when she learned that saying no to
extra responsibilities can be just as powerful as agreeing to everything life
presents.
· Jaki Baskow; Founder of Baskow &
Associates
Named
“Queen of Las Vegas” by Discovery Channel, Jaki Baskow’s story, “The Future
Belongs to Those Who Believe,” details how she overcame several hardships,
including the death of her father, a failed acting career and an unhappy
marriage.
· Linda M. Johnson; Hospital Executive
& Business Owner
Linda
Johnson’s nephew, Cole, had battled a life-threatening heart disease since he
was 15 months old. “An Open Heart” recalls when Johnson overcame stress and
anxiety to find a unique way to raise awareness for his condition.
· Marcia Castro-Rosenburg; Nurse,
Teacher and Strategic Intervention Coach
A
life-altering experience led Marcia Castro-Rosenburg to reexamine her life, as
documented in her piece, “A Life by Design.” She had lost all hope after
dealing with bankruptcy and depression, until she saw the terrified look in her
son’s eyes after stress-induced idiopathic anaphylactic shock almost killed
her.
· Andrea Hadhazy; Voiceover Actress and
Singer
In her
story, “Dream Life through Freedom,” Andrea Hadhazy outlines the struggles of
breaking through the grief from her mother’s passing by figuring out her true
passions and pursuing new life ambitions.
· Sam Georges; Former CEO/President and
General Counsel of the Anthony Robbins Organization
The
former entrepreneur considers himself a private person, but pours his heart out
in his story, “A Future to Step Into.” Sam Georges recounts the tragic passing
of his wife and how he used his grief as an opportunity to rebuild his life.
Thriving
comes in many forms, and “Chicken Soup for the Soul: Time to Thrive” covers
everything from minor adjustments to complete overhauls. Whether a life needs a
little tweak or a major change, these stories will show readers how to thrive.
This is the perfect book for anyone who wants to bust out of the same old
routine and take life in a new direction. It will give readers the confidence
to take the first step toward a happier, more meaningful, purposeful life.
There are a million ways to thrive, and the trick is discovering which is right
for an individual. This book offers readers practical tips and thoughtful
advice on how to do just that.
Newmark
said, “This is the time to take charge of your life, pursue your passion, do
something you are enthusiastic about and feel alive. ‘Chicken Soup for the
Soul: Time to Thrive’ is an excellent tool to jumpstart this invigorating
journey.”
Part of
the proceeds from the sale of “Chicken Soup for the Soul: Time to Thrive” will
be donated to the company’s community partner, Humpty Dumpty Institute. Humpty
Dumpty Institute’s program initiatives work to overcome humanitarian and
development challenges that affect many people throughout the world. Past
programs have succeeded in providing food to the hungry, delivering healthcare
to the impoverished, providing literacy and education for women and girls and
more. Chicken Soup for the Soul has become a key contributor to these ongoing
efforts by donating millions of dollars throughout their years of involvement.
Chicken
Soup for the Soul fans are invited to a special book launch event on Thursday,
May 7 at Vasari at Tivoli Village. Slocum Lahav and the other Las Vegas
contributors will be on-hand to meet guests and sign copies of “Chicken Soup
for the Soul: Time to Thrive.” Part of the proceeds from book sales that
evening will go to local non-profits Create a Change Now, an organization
dedicated to changing the way families eat by educating and empowering children
to make healthier food choices; and Elevate Las Vegas’ S.P.I.N. program,
“Supporting People in Need.”
The event is free to the public and will take
place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at 410 South Rampart Blvd. Suite 150.
