With
its doors closing to the public Monday, May 4, 2015, the renowned Riviera Hotel
& Casino is counting down its final weeks with a look back at some of the
highlights, fun facts, celebrity sightings and rarely-seen photos that have
helped build the iconic stature of the Las Vegas Strip’s first high-rise hotel
and casino.
Week
seven of #RivFacts pays homage to comedy legend Steve Martin, who performed at
the famed Riviera Hotel & Casino throughout the 1970s. Bernadette Peters,
who dated Martin for several years and co-starred with him in the classic film
“The Jerk,” opened for Martin at the Riviera Hotel & Casino in 1978.
When
he wasn’t on stage, Martin was often seen gambling and even celebrated Peters’
birthday at the Riviera Hotel & Casino at a party hosted by Bob Newhart.
