Eight
lucky drag racing fans will enjoy the experience of a lifetime at the
SummitRacing.com NHRA Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway April
10-12.
As
part of the NHRA’s “Baptism by Nitro” initiative, LVMS has partnered with the
NHRA to conduct separate social media and local radio contests. Each promotion
will award one lucky fan four free tickets to experience next weekend’s NHRA
Mello Yello Drag Racing Series event on Saturday, April 11, as “VIP rookies.”
The
winners will be granted access to the Nitro Burnout Zone in the sponsor viewing
area and inside-the-ropes access to a Nitro car warm-up.
The
social media contest is available to anyone who logs on to the contest’s
enter-to-win page by 9 a.m. Pacific Time on Tuesday, April 7, and nominates a
first-time fan they would like to bring to the races. Contest participants will
be asked to detail why the person they are nominating deserves a VIP “Baptism
by Nitro” experience.
For
Las Vegas’ radio promotion, fans are asked to visit KKLZ.com’s contest page to
nominate a “Baptism by Nitro” rookie for a chance to win four VIP tickets for
Saturday’s action. The radio contest runs through 5 p.m. Pacific on Thursday,
April 9, and race fans can hear more about the details by listening to KKLZ
96.3 FM’s morning show on weekdays.
The
NHRA’s inaugural “Baptism by Nitro” campaign is designed to help grow the
sport’s fan base and energize drag racing newcomers by immersing them into the
sensations of the world’s fastest and most powerful motorsport. The rumble of
10,000-horsepower, side-by-side action and the smell of the nitro-burning cars
launching down the drag strip at more than 300 miles per hour are sensations
that can only be experienced at an NHRA national event.
Throughout
the 2015 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series season, NHRA fans are encouraged
to share first-time fan “Baptism by Nitro” experiences on social media. Prizes
will be given away all year to the best nitro rookie reactions captured in the
pits or in the grandstands and posted to Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. All
posts should include the hashtag #BaptismbyNitro and tag @NHRA, and winners of
that season-long social media contest will receive a trip to the 2015 Auto Club
NHRA Finals in Pomona, Calif., Nov. 12-15.
Fans
can purchase tickets for the SummitRacing.com NHRA Nationals online atwww.LVMS.com, or by calling 1-800-644-4444. Children 12 and under who are
accompanied by a ticketed adult will receive a free general admission ticket
during the three-day event at The Strip.
