This
weekend Malcolm Butler – the New England Patriots rookie cornerback whose
goal-line interception won Super Bowl XLIX – celebrated his team’s victory in
big ways. As the Patriots’ unexpected hero, the 24-year-old up-and-comer shot
to fame overnight – experiencing many “firsts” in addition to his first Super
Bowl win. From media frenzies, to his very first trip to Las Vegas at the D
Casino Hotel, and presenting at last night’s Grammy Awards alongside
high-profile teammate Julian Edelman, Butler is easing into his newfound
stardom. Although his Grammy’s presentation showed hints of growing pains in
the limelight, it’s understandable, considering that this humble young
athlete’s first nationally televised off-field performance was at the 57th
Grammy Awards.
In
fact, during his trip to Las Vegas the day before, staff at the D commented on
Butler’s easy-going demeanor, kindness to fans, and humility throughout his
visit. He was very appreciative for everything he received, including an
indulgent meal worthy of his new, world champion status at Andiamo Italian
Steakhouse inside the D. Butler enjoyed a massive rib-eye steak, baked potato
and fresh salad, and for dessert, the chef presented him with a special
Strawberry Cheesecake, inscribed with “Congrats Super Bowl Champ!” in
chocolate. After dinner, he posed for pictures with the D Las Vegas’ sexy
Dancing Dealers before taking the D’s Armored Truck Limo around town for an
evening of celebrating.
