The American Lung Association in Nevada – Las Vegas will hold its annual LUNG FORCE Walk from noon to 2 p.m. on

Saturday, Nov. 1 at Floyd Lamb Park. Presented by Kindred Hospital Las Vegas, the walk will raise funds for those who suffer from lung cancer, asthma, COPD and other lung diseases. The event is open to the public and will consist of a 5k beginning at noon, followed with a Fall-themed festival complete with complimentary food and refreshments, beer and wine will be for sale, craft vendors, and live music by the band, “My Villain Heart.”

In addition, there will be a Health Fair where walkers can receive complimentary flu shots, health and wellness information and additional health screenings. Everyone is welcomed to participate – including families, children in strollers, dogs and dog-walkers and lung cancer survivors. This year, 400 to 500 walkers are expected to attend.

Participation in LUNG FORCE Walk is free per walker and teams average about 10 members. However, participants are encouraged to raise funds by making a minimum personal donation of $100. Walkers age 18 and over must register as participants. Those under 18 are encouraged to register and must be accompanied by an adult 21 years or older at the event.

About:  American Lung Association in Nevada (ALAN) has been improving the lives of Nevadans since 1916 when it was founded as the Nevada Tuberculosis Association to combat the devastating disease of tuberculosis (TB). Since that time, ALAN has remained constant in the fight against lung diseases and the promotion of lung health. Lung disease is the fourth leading cause of death in America and ALAN is often the first point of contact for individuals with lung disease. ALAN provides practical help and education to people living with asthma, COPD, and other lung diseases, confronting this disease at the root level by educating kids about the dangers of smoking, providing smoking cessation programs, advocating for smoke-free environments, and working to reduce air pollution. Programs include Not on Tobacco (NOT), Teens Against Tobacco Use (TATU) and Better Breathers Clubs.
