In a
visual display for the fight against hunger in Southern Nevada, representatives
from Three Square Food Bank teamed up with Clark County Commissioners to light
the “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas” sign orange on “Go Orange” Day, September
4.
Three
Square executive team members Brian Burton, Matt Muldoon and Dan Williams were
joined by Clark County Commissioners Mary Beth Scow, Lawrence Weekly and Chris
Giunchigliani as they ceremoniously ‘flipped the switched’ to light the “Welcome
to Fabulous Las Vegas” sign.
Go
Orange Day is a national hunger awareness day initiated by Feeding America as a
kick-off to Hunger Action Month, which takes place annually in September.
Efforts are organized locally by Three Square to raise awareness of the more
than 315,000 individuals in Southern Nevada who are hungry.
Additionally,
hotel marquees, exterior building lights, restaurant menu items, and employee
uniforms at a variety of locations were colored orange in support of the
national initiative. For more information, please visit www.threesquare.org.
