LIMELIGHT
brings the world of black and white silent films to vivid technicolor life
through the art of contemporary burlesque. Tickets are on sale now for a
limited engagement at The Plaza Hotel & Casino downtown from Sept. 12
through Nov. 1 every Friday, Saturday and Sunday night at 10 p.m. Named after one
of Charlie Chaplin's most famous films, LIMELIGHT's mix of singing, dancing,
comedy and magic rekindles the feel and energy of the roaring 20s with a
seductive edge.
Producers
Jodie McDonald and Danial Brown have joined forces to form their production
company Ridicula Imitatio and create LIMELIGHT, as well as choreograph, design
costumes for and appear in the show. Brown, who has performed on Broadway and
danced with Michael Jackson, steps into the shoes (and bowler hat) of the
legendary Charlie Chaplin while McDonald, a former Los Angeles Laker Girl and
worldwide choreographer, dances in the vibrant burlesque numbers. Betty Boop is
portrayed by Felice Singer, who currently stars in Million Dollar Quartet and
has performed in Les Folies Bergere and Fantasy. Rounding out the talented cast
are dancers Priscilla Trammel, Carlynn Mazon, Amy Toliver, Kaitlin Morgan and
Taylor Huggins.
"LIMELIGHT
is a tribute to the artists, like Chaplin, who pioneered the arts of facial
expression, body language and movement in telling a story, " said Brown.
"The performers literally jump off the screen and onto the stage in a
magical marriage of the old and new that's sexy, smart, elegant and edgy all at
once."
